well its that time again. I need to replace my rear tires but don't want to waste the money on new ones and then my 31s. can i put some 31s on the rear with out a lift if i don't go off road?
Also i can't trim the fenders at all.

Thank you

If you can't trim, then no. I ran 31's on my '01 w/ about 2.5" in the rear and cleared, but would have been better w/ 30's which is what I am running now.

But, try it and see.

I have driven my 91 with 31's on it and no lift/trim.
They slap the rear flairs on ALMOST all bumps and rub the lower control arms BAD.
The 31's will be back on it on the 16th of this month so I can put the 30's on my 99 for my trip to Colorado. I'll get pics this time of it.
There was NO WAY i could run the 31's on my 99 with no trim or lift. (i tried)

If you dont like your flairs and dont care about the tires making your wheel wells larger...
Go for it.

From someone that has tried................
Just throw some 30's on it. They work great with no trim/lift.

30's and a 2"bb (actual lift was 1 3/4 inch)

as you can see... 31's will NOT work in this situation even with the BB.

If you aren't going offroad you should be fine... only time I have had rubbing is at full lock on the LCA's and on the rear wells when I have had 5 people and all their gear in the rig. With extended bumpstops you won't have a problem. Running this way for two years. For "light" offroad, mine has tackled fire/logging roads and national parks unmaintained roads, and it has handled with aplomb. Mine is a '90. Pics can be seen here of how it looks (3rd picture down):

If you were wanting a rig with lots of flex, 31's won't work. For what you want, a primarily road warrior, put them on, extend your bumpstops and enjoy. My .02 One caveat-- seems the 97+ vehicles have more issues with this. As stated I have a 90 and this is the experience I speak from. Good luck.
