Ok a have a 1992 Jeep Cherokee with AW4 and 3.55 gears my jeep wheni first bought it add small tires i looked inside the it was like 195 15 aka 26" tire when I put my 31x11.50 LTB swampers on it still has plenty of power but when climbing long steep hills on the highway is it normal for it to kind lag some like i can be going 65 then hit the hill and it instally slows to 50 55 and unless i stomp it is slows down until i get on top then starts flying. Is this normal?

i have the same gear and tire size and live in the hills, when i start to pull a hill and it starts to lag, i barely push the brake pedal to unliock the torque convertor, might try making sure the shifter cable is adjusted correctly at the throttle body

just drive in 3rd when you get to a hill just to get up it till you can put in lower gears not the best way but it works and the torque convertor wont kick in and out thats my .02

If you go to a junkyard and get 4.10 gears out of a 4 banger, can you install them yourself, or is it easier to just get the entire axles?

Keep in mind too that you speedo is probably off if you didn't adjust for the tires.

Is it still normal with the 31" swampers to feel a slight loss of power?

Yes, running 3.55 gears and 31's you notice a difference. Its not bad but you can really tell running up hill.

if you fallow 'math's opinion, you need to regear... or at least quit posting threads that've been posted a billion times, faq'd, then stickied...

worst part is, you obviously know you should re-gear... just do it...
