I posted on the OEM board with no response... Just wondering,
I have an XJ AW-4/231 combo, and I have an AA SYE kit in the mail thats on its way. Will a HD Np231 bolt up to my application from for example a S-10 or a RAM, I heard these units were much stronger than the Jeep units? if so will my SYE kit work with it? Any suggestions would be nice... Thanks

Look mate --

Welcome to NAXJA and all that, but please play nice. You are not supposed to post one question on more than one forum, and you've posted this question on three forums here. It's Monday morning, fer Gawd sake. You posted on the OEM board at 9:00 a.m. eastern time, which is 6:00 a.m. Pacific time. So you didn't get an immediate answer -- don't you think people might have to go to work on a Monday morning? Is this so urgent that you have to have an answer within 15 minutes so you can rush out to buy the box?

The folks who lurk on the NAXJA forums are probably collectively the most knowledgeable about XJs you'll find anywhere, and we try to help and to answer every question. However, we also have lives to lead, jobs to go to, and some questions (such as those not relating to XJ-specific equipment, like your question) might need some research. Immediate gratification is not always possible, but that's not an excuse for tossing the question all over the map.

In the future please limit questions to the most appropriate forum (OEM, Modified, or Non-Tech) and we'll try to answer it when possible. Be nice.

Thank you.

Yes, I believe the AA kit will bolt right up to the 231HD from a Dodge. That case will then bolt to the Jeep. I don't believe Chevy ever ran the 231 HD. I did quite a bit of junk yard searching for parts to make mine into a 231HD and came close by swapping in a 6 pinion planetary from a 241 (which is NOT included in the 231HD), and a set of wide sprockets from ? (found them in a parts box and suspect they came from a 207 or 233 as they both use the wider chain) and then purchased a NEW wide chain. The shift mechanism from the 241 was the same as on my 231J, so I reused my own. I have since found out that the 231HD actually uses a larger diameter shift mechanism, shift fork etc. As mentioned, I kept the smaller diameter stock stuff. To this stuff I added an AA HD SYE kit. worked fine. Jeff

thanks for all the help, I wasnt in a hurry for an answer nor do I want the most replays on my thread, I relized that I posted this on 2 other boards that I was not supose to. After I posted my question in the 'correct board' I went to try to delete the others but I found out I couldnt. I guess you guys havnt made that option available.
