231 input shaft length

I was wondering if anyone had a 231 hanging around that they might be able to get a measurement for me. I am looking for the length of the input shaft measuring from mounting surface. I really appreciate.

What year is your XJ?What transmission do you have?

the xj is a 95, the aw4 is a 98. The 231's in jeeps as far as I know all used the same length input shaft. The reason I'm looking for a measurement is to figure out what I need to do to get a 241 into my jeep. I've had nothing but bad luck with the 231

No they used several different spline/length combinations.But for the 98 it should be a short shaft(@ 1 3/8" long).
