2004 Ford Explorer... IRS or solid axle??

Anyone know if 2004 Explorers have solid rear axles or independent?

IRS, I believe from 2001 up.

I have one from an 05 explorer that's a solid 8.8... they are out there but 05 was the last year it came with the solid axle. The 04 may have a solid axle...

It is 2002 and up are all IRS. There was no ther option except fot the Sport trac.

Tell your membership to treat guests like guests and the guests might act like guests. If you don't give respect, you won't get it. Read any other thread I've posted in, any problems there???

(Since we're starting over... and since I've been warned to play nice) Thanks for the suggestion Darky! However, I've already tried searching Google for several different phrases regarding the 2004 Explorer Rear Drive train but wasn't able to find anything that answered my question.

Anyway since explorer rear ends are a popular transplant for XJ's I figured someone around here might know when they switched over to IRS.

But seriously, Explorerforum looked to be fairly knowledgeable about their Explorers and had a section for virtually anything anyone could want to do with an Explorer.
