2002 Tacoma A/C compressor

Does anyone have experience swapping out the A/C compressor on a 2002 Toyota Tacoma? My wife's truck makes some gnarly noises whenever the A/C kicks on... It sounds like a compressor giving up the ghost.

I'm a novice mechanic... I've been doing all right on my XJ but I've been rather hands off with the Tacoma. It seems straight forward enough... have a shop evacuate the A/C... unbolt... rebolt... get it refilled. There is a clutch that some people over on Ttora say is tricky to adjust.

Any words of advice?

I spent all day working on this job. I got the old compressor out and hopefully tomorrow I can begin reassembly.

Here's my new dilema: I purchased a remanufactured compressor from NAPA. On the Tacoma there is a plate that has the inlet and outlet holes for the two A/C lines (high and low). The plate is bolted to the body of the compressor by four bolts. My new compressor came with a blank plate mounted... so I guess I swap the old plate onto the new compressor. Trouble is, I have NO IDEA what to torque the four bolts to. This is a high pressure seal plate... it is going to matter.

Any Toyota or A/C techs out there? This must be a pretty common problem with reman units...

helps??
