The 91+ have electric speedo. pre 91 is cable driven. Just want to make sure people don't make the same one I did.

The bottom one looks like mine, and it works in my 93' and I know it came from a 94'. The top must be for the earlier xj's

The bottom one looks like the one from my 89..

my 88 with mechanical connection looks like the top one, my friends 93 has one that looks like the bottom one, but i'm not sure if his is electrical or not. I know the 94 is electrical because I got a tranny and t-case from a 94 and had to swap the little sensor thing on the t-case to a mechanical one.

You have a 91+ right?
One give away to a pre 91 cluster is the reset button for the trip-o-meter.
On pre 91, it goes through the speedo face.
On 91+, it does not. (goes through the bezel).

These are mechanical speedo gauges... but mine's a 95 with gauges from an 89 (I think) and I didn't have to change the speedo thing.

the only explanation is that it must be a Jeep and they're probably held on my torx, metric and SAE :laugh3:
