Will a 1989 2.5L block swap with a 1992 2.5L? My 92 YJ 2.5L is hurting and I have a 89 YJ 2.5L block and head I want to put in. If I swap over everything including the fuel injection, distributor, serpentine belt, flywheel, etc., will everything bolt up to the 89 block & head? The cylinder head P/Ns are the same (403) so I'm pretty sure they are the same. What do I need to be concerned with?

I've not checked into that too deeply (yet...) but you can probably just swap the top ends (head and manifolds) and call it good. Note that there may be a difference in the downpipe (I know there is on the 4.0L,) but I'm not as "up" as I'd like to be on revisions to the AMC150 (even though it was also used in the Dakotas for a while - ChryCo kept a couple of AMC designs around for more than a few years...)

By putting the 1989 2.5L short block in my 92 Wrangler, I'm mainly worried about the flywheel, crank position sensor, water pump rotation, and bolt holes...and if they will all match up.
