troy: any luck w/ the medved folks?

here is my suggestion-- i've been to medved several times (bought my jeep there in fact ), and their parking is horrendous; even out back i've never seen more than a few free spaces and i'm sure they'll want those reserved for potential suckers, er, i mean customers.

what if we were to hold our chapter meeting there (assuming they let us use a conference room or whatever like the dealer in the springs), but then we could move down the street a couple of blocks for a full-blown meet n greet or BBQ. there is a huge RTD park n ride just off of 1-70 and ward rd (the same exit to medved) that also has a big overflow lot in the back-- i'm sure on a saturday this lot would be empty. plus, it is visible from the highway so we might attract some passersby on their way down I-70.

personally i like walking around and seeing all the built XJs parked together instead of dispersed among lesser vehicles in a general parking lot.

I had the same thought about Medved. When I talked to him last year, he said the back lots wouldn't be a problem..... but if it's a busy Saturday for them, it could be an issue. I'll ask the guy if they'd consider giving us a reserved space (can't hurt to ask) and we'll go from there.

I'm ok with a back-up plan to move out to the RTD lot after the meeting should we find that the Medved lot is gonna be crowded.

Again, anyone else know of another idea? I'll be calling Medved tomorrow, but would like other suggestions.

i suppose another option (plan C) could be to contact bandimere now...

thus develop an ongoing relationship w/ them so we could potentially use that space a couple of times a year-- that new dirt lot would be perfect.
frankly we may have better luck now (off season) anyway than for a summer swap meet during race season on a saturday.

Bandimere isnt a bad idea.Its definately got plenty of room and would allow us to develop a little PR with them.The meeting is your guys' neighborhood this time so..secure a place and we'll (COS members)be there.Personally,if it can be done,I'd rather go to Bandimere than Medved.Just my $.02.

Ok guys, an update:

Medved is excited to host us and will let us have a corner lot for ourselves (out back, but that's cool). We're scheduled for the 19th to use their meeting room. The general manager also graceously offered to let us join their staff for lunch. Every Saturday, Medved makes lunch for their employees with several items on the menu. The GM said that we'd have to pitch in for our costs, but he said it would likely be fairly cheap. He's gonna have his chef call me to get the details and a price breakdown. I thought this might be a great deal especially if the weather is crappy and BBQ would be less enjoyable. He also said we'd be ok to BBQ on site and that the chef may be willing to do the grilling and they have a grill there. I'll have more details later.

I've also called Bandimere. I think that's a good idea as well and Terry's right on about opening the door to discuss the swap meet. I have a message in to their Hospitality Director so I'll discuss both the meeting and the swap meet idea with him at that time.

If there are some of you that haven't voted in the poll but are planning to attend, please post a reply here so I can get a head count. I'm gonna use the number of replies to the poll as a starting point for a head count - and then provide a few extra as a buffer.
