1996 xj putting in 2001 aw4 wiring differences and splicing connectors

Have a 96 auto xj that I have already put a 2001 transmission in and didn’t realize connectors to the harness are different. Have read that you can splice the wires and be fine, but the wires are different colors and there are extra. Just can’t find out what wires go to which wire.

Don't remember what went where, it's been years since i did the same thing, but I can tell you that you don't use the front sensor now, so don't worry about that one, other than that I remember it being easy to figure out.

I'm recalling the output speed sensor for the late model transmission will produce four pulses per revolution, whereas your TCU is expecting one pulse per revolution (or is it two?).

We are going to figure this out together I guess. You're way ahead since your tranny is already in.

I have a FSM for the 95. If we can find FSM for a late model year we can likely determine the splice map.
