Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

Let me know about thursday. Working on bros truck tomorrow but can prolly come help thursday if you want

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

I'm just taking it to Winston's. he is putting them in.
He knows his chit when it comes to bags. So instead of playing guessing game.
I'm letting him do the fab work since he has done it before.

What are you doing to bros truck?
I won't be done tattooing until 1 or so then I have to go get the torch tanks filled. Then it's back home to cut up the bed. Lol
I've never used an acetylene torch. Should be interesting. : )

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

Just new fenders. For cutting isnt it a 1:1 ratio? Its pretty easy, just follow the basic rules. Acetaline then oxygen, purge to shut off, blah blah blah.

And ya, winston knows his shit on a lot of stuff lol. smart fooker there.

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

I have no idea. Lol.
I was just going to wing it. I have seen it done up close so I know what the flame looks like. But I don't know what order to do it in and all that.
My buddy Matt let me use the torch and he was showing me how to adjust it when it ran out of oxygen.... Seemed pretty simple. I didn't catch the order though...

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

acetaline first, then add oxy til you get the good flame and small inner blue flame, the point of that is the hottest.

I think 4:1 (acetaline:eek:xy) is for welding and 1:1 is for cutting but it has been a few years so i could be off.

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

do 10 psi and 10 psi on the regulators, make sure they are loosened before you open the bottles. Open the oxy tank all the way and open the acety tank 3/4 of a turn then adjust. then on the handle or torch open the acety and spark it, open it untill the soot is almost gone, then introduce oxygen untill you get a neutral flame. then test the oxygen for cutting and make sure you retain a neutral flame. look it up on youtube or give me a call if you have any concerns. Blowing up would suck.

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

C notch is in.
Still have to box it all in and install extra supports.

You going to fuel cell or just relocating tank when you link it?

The 4 link that they (airbagit.com) built for the kit is a parallel 4 link with panhard. And sit out side the frame.
We are going to install it with the panhard for now and I'm going to upgrade to a watts link setup when I find the right one.

Something like this eventually.

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

oh ok. I thought you went with a triangulated set up.

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

I was going to if I had to build it.
But the confirmation email showed that the 4 link is part of what they are sending me.

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

Nice tail-dragger.......... ;)

Re: My 88 chevy- project in progress

Thanks Troy.

Kiefer. The front is still sitting 2" higher than the back.
I gotta get 2" drop spindles.
I think the fenders are the same height.

It's almost done. Should be back on the road tomorrow.
Ill post more pics soon.
