1987 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0L automatic-transmission 4WD: 4-doors ~ 330K odometer mileage; owned since ~ year 1997; driven less than 100-miles per-year since ~ 10 years ago; starts, runs drives (although some concern for rust-coated brake-line from master-cylinder along down-path toward-rear brakes and PS-rear brake bleed-screw broke-off (either need to extract-replace bleed-screw or replace slave-cylinder);
good:
less than 1,500 miles on Goodyear Wrangler 235-75x15 tires (~ 7 years old) mounted on Jeep OE 1987 Cherokee XJ yellow-color mag-wheels; has Crane Cams Fireball HI-6S analog multi-spark ignition with Jacobs Ultra-Torquer ignition-coil (I installed ~ 20 years ago, and, very nice causes engine to run smooth); has Uniden Bearcat PC-78-XL CB-radio with antenna-mount installed through roof over rear-cargo area; has larger Dana rear-axle; has Hella 450 fog-lights (~ 20 years old); 4-gauge battery-cable from alternator to battery (with 150-amp block-fuse); larger Group-34 battery (wet-cell) is new (~ June this-year 2024);
not so good:
this Cherokee needs: likely needs new gas-tank; and, PS-front side-rear-mirror clip broken (tied in-place with parachute-cord); front-grill needs to be replaced; power-windows motors need to be lubricated or replaced; underside-rust work DIY done ~ 15 years ago but needs to be re-done again;
engine exhaust manifold may have slight crack (but doesn't cause problem with idle or driving); DS-front black-leather OE leather worn-tattered;
haven't used A/C for past ~ 20 years; body-paint not so good (color black); after-market Walker-brand high-flow-turbo cat-back exhaust maybe has another 1-year-life remaining;
registered in New York State:
located in Staten Island (parked in driveway); asking $500 OBO; contact me via [email protected];
sadly selling due to I am too old to continue work on cars as a hobby and to reduce auto-insurance monthly-expense; If you like 1987-1990 Renix Jeep Cherokees, you may be interested to continue this project (or use for parts).

It is a good thing you are all the way on the other side of the country or I would have Varmints contending for that Jeep.

Someone is going to get lucky. The Dana 44 alone is worth the $500.

I have 4 photos of this 1987 XJ:
front;
rear;
engine compartment showing Crane Cams Fireball HI-6S analog multi-spark ignition with Jacobs Ultra-Torquer ignition-coil & new Grp-34 battery;
PS-front interior showing showing the Uniden Bearcat PC-78-XL CB-radio install.

I you want to see these photos: send an email to [email protected] (I'll reply with the 4 photos attached).

If I can get file repository space in the net, then I'll post links to the 4 photos here
(but that may not happen anytime soon).

Darn-it. I would love to have that grill for my collection. Wish you were on the opposite coast.

I didn't even know they made a tube grill for an XJ. That is the first time I have ever seen one.

Again, it is probably a good thing that XJ is so far away.

Don't let that one go to the crusher.

I bought and installed that tube-grill ~ year 2005 ... don't remember which internet-site I bought that grill from ... however ... now ~ 19 years later one-side (driver-side) of that grill has significant rust-out at the ends of couple of those tubes ... I originally bought that tube-grill because it looked like it would flow more air into the radiator than the Jeep Cherokee OE plastic-grill.

Regarding "... go to the crusher ...":
I'm currently having a difficult time deciding whether that should happen ... don't want it to happen ... but ... haven't had anyone come-over to look at it ... via feedback into my [email protected] email;

I am also in same situation with my 1994 Pontiac Bonneville (not SuperCharged 3.8L) ... that for-sale (with photos) can be found via the For-Sale Section in: https://pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/

simple FYI: as much as I don't want to do it, likely within the next day or during next-week I am going to call into the local-church donate-car program to schedule a tow-away (since no one is expressing any interest, other than immediate-above posts from ~ few weeks ago) ... I found the possible destination of this specific donate-car program: Plakos Salvage at E95th Street in Brooklyn NY.

Within the past couple of days I have de-installed the custom-install I did many years ago for the Uniden Bearcat PC-78-XL CB-radio (see photo-link in above 10/13/2024 post).

I may or may not also de-install the Hella 450 and Hella FF75 fog-lights (before the donate-car tow-away).

if you haven't, post a listing for it on facebook marketplace, somebody will want this for $500.

pls no crusher.
