I'm with you on that price. Lot of coins. And, there not done yet. Look good in the parking lot. I'd rather have a Comanche though.

    Important

Yea, I'm all about recovery. I have every kind of recovery equipment there is and, practically the only reason I wheel is to recover some stuck vehicle. If I had a better right cross, I'd be a tow truck driver.

Yea, I have two tow ropes that are Amsteel. I have a black 100 foot Amsteel rope 1" diameter and a 60 foot Amsteel 7/8." They have loop ends and the black one has break strength over 100,000lb. Don't ask me why I need a $300 tow rope. :confused1 These do not have any significant stretch so...

    Important

Polyester webbing is pretty much all the same. There are only a couple of manufacturers and the product is pretty generic. Woven into strapping, it has a breaking strength of about 9000lb per inch of width, single ply. It stretches about 15-25% as it approaches its break point. No strap with...

    Christmas Loot

The only thing that matters about a ring is if her girlfriends or sisters go: "wow," when they see it. It may not make any sense but that's all that counts. :) PS, I like the idea of a WF wedding. PErsonally, my wife and I eloped to Key West. Much $$$$ saved. :)

BadLands in the winter, (Lotsa pix, 56k beware)

Nick, that was some real good climbing you did on the end of that first video. Makes me want to jump in my rig and head for Attica. :)

    lockers in the midwest

I don't notice this ratcheting in my K2500 Burb. I checked the codes and it has a 4.10 Positraction in the front, but, in two wheel drive, I never hear anything. In 4wd, the front locks up frequently and makes it unsteerable. I wonder if the anti lock brakes have something to do with this?

    lockers in the midwest

I have a lock-rite in the back and an ARB in the front. I'm going to replace the lock-rite with a selectable locker in the rear. The lock rite will lock up with the slightest slippage of either rear wheel. So, if you're in off camber mud, the rear end just migrates down the hill sideways. I...

    Haspin Trip Saturday 1/3

Great pics. Sorry to have missed all that winching and strapping and such. How did those bigassed Hummers do? PS, we are going back out on the 10th if anyone wants a repeat of yesterday! http://www.terrainstompers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2867

Is this event open to non-members?

    Haspin, Saturday 11-29...

Hope you guys come out to Haspin. Nothing against HnH, but there's a lot of off camber trail there and you know what off camber mud does to a locked rear end . . . .

    Badlands 11/8

Nick, next time we go wheeling, I'm just gonna hook a chain up to your Jeep so I can keep up with you. You guys look like you had a lot of fun, but I didn't see so much of you. :sad1: Sure was glad to see that cool Comanche (Tom, right?). That's my favorite Jeep model. Someday, I'll come across...

    Badlands 11/8

Terrain Stompers will have a group (probably small) going to Badlands for wheeling November 8, 2008. As always, NAXJA members, lurkers and anyone with a tow point or two and a good attitude is welcome to join us. Info on TS board as the plan develops...
