I'm stuffing 38's with 6.5" lift. Trying to keep low COG. I'm going to have to spend a lot of time with the sawzall to make enough clearance for decent bumptravel. Trying to cut as much as I can, but with the four-door I might be forced into a comp cut with a stretch.
Let's see if this will work this time. I'm in Afghanistan and my internet is a POS so I can't always get on here.
Since I'm out here I have someone doing the work for me. From the pictures I have seen, the shock mounts are behind the spring perches so it's not set up for coilover.
Been out...
I'm looking for input from anyone who has done the RK rear coil conversion on their XJ. What shocks do you run on the rear?
From RK:
Shock Notes: It is recommended that high quality shocks be used with all Rock Krawler Suspension Systems. At a very minimum an adjustable dampening rate shock...
Don't worry, you're not the only one who has done this. The PO of my XJ cut past the pinch seems in mine too. Been hiding it with bushwackers for a long time but I guess it's about time to do something about it.
Been done a million times on Pirate 4x4. Lurk their forum for a while and you will find tons of information on chopping the top. Just make sure you cage it otherwise it will fold like a taco.
I am running this kit and right now it is set up with the tie rod on top and drag link on bottom like RK tells you to set it up. I am experiencing some bumpsteer with it right now. I am thinking about flipping the tie rod and drag link to see if it is any better. Love the way it performs off...
Not terribly difficult. You are going to need either an engine hoist or a good floor jack with some 2x6's under the oil pan. (I used the floor jack) It is going to require quite a bit of adjusting the engine with the jack to get to all the bolts and wedge the brackets out and back in. You have...
I just installed the Super kit from Brown Dog and I couldn't be happier. It was a PITA to tear everything apart and do the install (did motor mounts and headers at the same time) but the final product is so worth it. My entire XJ used to used to "adjust" itself every time I put the...
Just a quick question... Now I'm not in favor of removing the cat but if you have the California emissions version that has three cats on it, why shoudln't you be able to remove two of the cats if you don't live in cali? Then your vehicle will be like every other vehicle on the road. I'm just...
Yeah I would take a look at your motor mounts. I have an APN sitting in my garage right now but I'm waiting for my Brown Dogs to get here before I even think about putting it in. It's awesome that they replace it no questions asked but I would rather not have to go through the hassle of...
I am also running the RK X Factor steering. Right now I have it set up with the drag link on bottom and the tie rod on top like RK says to install it and my steering is real loose. I tried tossing a steering stabilizer on there and it didn't make much of a difference. I was thinking about...
