Boostwerks Build Thread V2.0

Welcome to my build thread!

I’ve been getting several requests to re-build my build thread, so here it is. My beloved XJ is my daily driver, test rig, expedition rig, and in general…stress reliever. It’s far from the most extreme XJ out there, but like most Jeep owners I don’t think I’ll ever stop wrenching and upgrading it.

Let the pics begin!

When I first brought it home…

The bighorns have been great, except they've started cupping so they're loud as all hell. I can't really blame the tire though because my wheel bearings and ball joints arn't exactly in the best shape. I just havn't had time to swap in my built axles yet.

Other than them being loud, they've been fantastic. Eventually I'll have a trail dedicated set of beadlock wheels and tires, and run an all terrain on the street.

Re: Boostwerks Build Thread V2.0

Alrighty. I put the finishing touches on the exhaust today so here are the pics.

I added a 3" Magnaflow Spun Cat, and extended the exhaust past the rear. Before I had it simply dumping out to the side of the leaf spring which resulted in carbon build up everywhere. I'm replacing the plugs in a few days and then heading over to try and pass emissions.

I also had a 3/8" heim joint laying around which has a bronze impregnated bushing (good for high heat) so I decided I'd use it as the rear hanger. Turned out pretty sweet. Since the rear section is fixed I don't need a typical rubber hanger. The heim allows it to move, but still supports the weight. It sounds great and doesn't vibrate!

More to come.

Re: Boostwerks Build Thread V2.0

Awesome exhaust man.

Think you'll have problems passing emissions?
