MPG with 35's

Right now I'm running 35x12.5 BFG MT's with a 3.73 gear ratio. My gas mileage is pretty freakin' bad.

What kinda gas mileage should I expect when I get 4.88's put in? What kinda gas mileage are you guys with 35's gettin?

Thanks for the insight.

Re: MPG with 35's

Goatman's got the right answer.

I have 33s for DDing, and 35s (mtrs) for trails. 4.88 gears. 88 4.0 with 220,000mi. AW4 auto tranny. I can get over 20mpg with the 33s if I drive real careful. I haven't checked exactly with the 35s but I would guess around 15-16 driving carefully.

Re: MPG with 35's

I wish I got that much. I've got 35's and 4.56s and I get about 12 miles to the gallon.

Re: MPG with 35's

The key is the gearing...at least 4.88's... I ran 33's on 3.73's for a while...the mpg went down to 11....now with the '88's on those occasions where i drive a good distance...18+

Re: MPG with 35's

the correct answer is:

Re: MPG with 35's

beez is right. the 35s I had w/ 4.11s killed me unless I drove on the highway. maybe 5-10 mpg town and 15-18 on highway
