ok newb question... what do you mean by hijacking the hardrive? using it as RAM?
2.4G Quad-core
2 1G ddr2 mem
500G SATA 7200rpm drive

I ment to type "hi-jacking the hard drive thread". it was getting steered away from it's topic.

Pentium D 3.0Ghz/3.0Ghz

Seagate Barracuda 160GB SATA3
2x Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA3
EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTS, 320MB DDR3, PCI-E

Vista Business 32bit (stupid free upgrade), SP1

Windows Experience rating 4.8

All powered by a stupid huge 600W power supply (that's surprisingly silent most times).

:guitar:

I'm going to upgrade my XP(Has old drivers on it from Athlon XP 2800+ system) to Vista Home Premium 64bit here soon and I'll give you my Windows Experience rating.

I ran 3DMark06 and could barely pull 0-2FPS on this one scene is something wrong? Or is it just that test? I scored about 4900.

AMD X2 3800+ (939)

Seagate SATA 300gb
Samsung SATA 500gb
EVGA Nvidia 8800GT 512MB DDR3 PCI-E
Windows XP Pro (FTW!)
500 watt PS, but I need a 650 since adding the video card.
ViewSonic 20.1" widescreen primary monitor
ViewSonic 19" 4:3 secondary monitor

Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
1 GB DDR2 PC6400
Nvidia 680I LT mobo
Dual Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 512MB video cards in SLI
3 250GB sata drives 2 setup as RAID 0
External Maxtor 500GB drive
20x dual layer dvd burner
1000w psu
Windows vista ultimate 32bit
Acer 20.1" lcd
Ideazon gaming keyboard w/ interchagable keysets
Logitech mx400 laser mouse

It'll run anything I throw at it.

On a side note, does anyone make a "backlit" keyboard?

My lappy:
T7250 which is 2.0 gig dual core, 2megs L2, and I believe either 667 or 800 fsb
2x1 gig PC5300 667mhz ram (2 gigs)
128 mb NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
160g 5400 hdd
32 bit Home Premium Vista
My score is 3.7

It shows my ram score at 4.8 Would going to 3 gigs improve my overall score and ram score or is 5 tops? I'm pretty much running all of the frou frou pretty vista graphics and even without any applications running, its taking a full gig. I know going to 4 gigs would be kind a silly for 32 bit since it wouldn't recognize but about 3.25

EDIT: Now I looked at it and I understand that the video card is where the problem is. It has the lowest score at 3.7 Funny thing is that it was actually 3.8 previously but I had to load new firmware for the card to make the fan run more constantly. This is one of the bunk nvidia cards that burn up and dell isn't doing anything to replace them. So, the only way I can improve performance at this point is to upgrade to a notebook with a better card or to turn off vista flashbang stuff? Is there a way to dedicate more system memory to video performance to help the card?

Nothing fancy.

Dell Inspiron 530

Main rig

Intel® Core™2 Quad processor Q6600 (8MB L2, 2.4GHz, 1066FSB)
2gb ram
8800GT + old GeForce 6200
Soundblaster Live Digital
500Gb hdd with second 500gb hdd added and two external 500gb drives.
Running Vista Home Premium

Media server

Old AMD setup (can't remember specs ATM)
2gigs of ram
Soundblaster Live Digital
4x500gb drives in raid 1
2x250gb drives
1x120gb drive
1x80gb drive
Running XP Pro

They are hooked up to 3 Dell 22" widescreens. I can switch all 3 to my main rig or 2 over to my media server. Which is also routed through my Sony 700 watt 7.1 theater system. Video is also routed to the television. I need a new tv.

I need to get some new hdd's since mine are almost completely full with movies and music. :geek:
