    xj hack and tap question

I did mine and it was fine. Parking brake, chock wheels, and put it in drive (engine running). Grinder with cutoff wheel will do the hack real clean as the spinning shaft gives it a lathe effect rather than hacking through the output. The front ds you're using is out of a slushbox XJ, right...

    Has anyone run bassett wheels?

I know bassett wheels are big in circle track racing among other things, and I stumbled across these. They seem pretty lightweight (for steel wheels), the price is right, and they're made here in the USA. Does anyone have any experience with these? http://www.bassettwheel.com/dot.html

    Aftermarket Header Gains?

Thorley headers are among the best.

    increase fuel mileage

I haven't seen one, (long gone when I got my XJ) but I've heard they're pretty restrictive.

    increase fuel mileage

I run a '96 XJ, so I'm lacking in experience with the renix jeeps, but... HO factory header and take a dremel tool to the stock airbox. Take the stock hole (sized similar to a deck of cards) and extend it toward the fender, and back. As the airbox tapers for fender clearance, taper the hole...

    HANDGUNS

Call me a cheap bastard, but I like my Ruger LC9. I can't afford a high-end gun (Kimber) as my Jeep needs money too.:worship:

    89 MJ Totalled, the Resurrection!

It made me sick to see the "before and after" shots of this... when the "after" shot was of this Comanche upside down at the edge of a creek. Short of paint, it's as good now as it was before the accident!

    Chirp, Chirp...Bad water pump? Pulley?

My XJ has been doing this... new belt, new water pump, efan swap, still does it when it's cold outside.

Hi-Lift mounted under rear seat (how to)

The under-seat mounting location would work well for me, too. If I were on some epic expedition and the Jeep were full of gear and 14 illegals, it'd make sense to mount it in a more accessible location, even for a "this trip only" basis.

No answers in the MWC section, can anyone help over here??

:idea:never heard this before, but I'll keep it in mind if I ever need it.

Amberless Tail Lights for an 87?

they're the best when some guy has a totally rotted out beater here in the rust belt, with shiny new "altezza" tail lights and twenty-fohs.

    Cheap Ball Joints?

x2. Napa usually pretty good, tell them you want "domestic" (made in USA) parts. (their "non heavy duty" (aka greaseable) u-joints are made by federal mogul, as are a lot of their parts. Heavy duty u-joints are solid, so they can take more power. I wouldn't use them on a Jeep as you can't...
