Colorado B/S Thread

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Lol I already googled "where to get rockwell axles in colorado" and got nothing useful

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Nothin on CL, not registered on CO4x4, and Pirate hasn't turned up anything in CO or reasonable driving distance from CO yet.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Sorry, forgot to specify... I'm lookin for the AXLES, not an entire rig lol. My bad
I found one set on CL in CO, but they're both fronts with hydro steer from a rear-steer buggy... I need a front and a rear as they'll be on the street.

Are you planning on putting your ford on them?

My Ford? Nope.
I'll get into it when there's somethin solid to talk about :D
As for right now... I need axles. Gotta start from the ground up.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Well... hold up a min.
What do yall think... Rockwell or D60?
A 60 will have more aftermarket support and is lighter and easier to come by, but is still only a one-ton. With aftermarket parts it can be built to withstand a helluva lot, but that gets pretty expensive.
A Rockwell is stronger from the get-go, but doesn't have the aftermarket that the 60 does and is one heavy sob. Parts are more expensive, but it needs a lot less to get to the point where it's strong enough for the application.
The axle will be seeing large tire sizes (around 40" ish) and stupid amounts of HP and torque. I'm trying to take into account the strength of the R/P, shafts, and housing.
Opinions? Should this be its own thread?

Re: The Colorado BS thread

Someone hit Mason's reset button.......... please, and quickly. :banghead:

So junior....... how the fawk are we supposed to discuss whether Rockwells vs. D60 is appropriate for the application when you don't give the specs of the monsterosity you're building in your head there Sparky?

Gawd...... :dunce:

Re: The Colorado BS thread

The details on it are a little fuzzy as there's a lot of "this part or that part" goin on.
So far all that's been decided on is the turbo system. Injectors, engine management, fuel delivery, oil, etc. are still being discussed and they all change the nature of the beast. But none of that stuff applies here cause you're the only other guy on here I know of that does diesel and you aren't really into building em, and even so you're a Cummins guy and that's way different.

What DOES apply to crawler-world is the axles and all that. As I said, the axles will have to deal with large tire sizes and high HP and torque loads (4 digit numbers). Will be driving on track and dirt strips.

Don't worry you'll be doing enough waiting when you ship .
Oh" and don't forget about the running , I hope your running your two miles
a day because you will in Benning . My SF Battalion ran two to five a day .
I'm sure the Rangers did too , all before breakfast then the training starts .

The Rangers only accept the elite in physical fitness so be prepared for a
nice regiment of ass kick'in and muscle failure before lunch ....;)
, I should have gone to Drill school ....:farmer:

Been to MEPS 3 times now. They did my ASVAB and medical on separate days for some reason, then I had to go back again cause some BS about my fingerprints not scanning through right so we had to redo them. I hate MEPS... it's like the DMV, but worse.
Nailed my orders on my wall right above my bed...
JOB: 11x1 O 00 YY
TYPE: OSUT
LOCATION: BENN
SHIP DATE: 20100607
START DATE: 20100618

So originally I was supposed to leave June 7th (this past Monday) and then training would start on the 18th. Now they're saying it'll be around October or November :flamemad:. I've been trying to get a hold of my Sgt to figure out the details of wtf is happening but I keep missing him at the office.
Don't get me wrong, I'm much happier about going to GA in October than in June... I hate humidity... but I've been basing my life around leaving 4 days ago and now I gotta stick around for another while.

I run 1 mile, do pushups till I'm too tired to do more, then run another mile, then situps till I'm too tired to do more, then another mile.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

wow. never heard of them pushing back basic. once orders are cut thats pretty much when you go. I would get ahold of your recruiter and if he is not answering, call the station commander. work the chain, get your answers. It's your right.

check out military.com forums as well, alot of people been through what you are going through. there may be a reason for this.

Re: The Colorado BS thread

My buddy is going through the same stuff right now. they keep pushing it back (3rd time). He should be leaving in a month or two...

Re: The Colorado BS thread

It's not so much that I can't get a hold of him, just that whenever I stop by he's taking somebody to MEPS or otherwise preoccupied. The station is 2 blocks from my house so I usually just drop by.
That's what I thought too, orders being set and all, but the more people that ask me about this the more I hear "yeah they just pushed my buddies ship date back a few months too" so it seems like its happening pretty often.
