ZJ Question

The good ole 4.0 L engine with 222,100 miles on it.

Stumbled for a second and tossed a code 2 days ago. I cleared it and then it happened again this morning.

Code was a P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor.

I did a google search for a camshaft position sensor for a 1996 ZJ and all the responses came back calling it a crankshaft position sensor. Here is an example:

Might this be the correct item to replace? The possible issues to toss this code are:

- Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor
- Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty starter motor
- Starting system circuit
- Dead (Weak) battery

dielectric grease works wonders... that is the cam position sensor, its in the distributor

Known as a distributor pickup at the parts stores- ask me how I know...
