York A/C Compressor questions

I'm looking at buying a late-'60s vehicle that's fitted with a York A/C compressor. The car's turned about 5000 miles since 1986, so I'm fully anticipating the compressor being shot. This is something of a windfall for me, since the dead compressor can be recycled into my XJ for dedicated OBA.

Here's what I need to know, though: does anyone know of a list of applications for these compressors (both foreign & domestic) by make and model? I don't know which model York is in there - any identifying marks I could see are *long* gone - and would like to be able to find out. Also (and I know this is probably stretching it), does anyone know of, say, a York-to-Sanden cross-reference? I might want to make A/C functional again in the car at some point, but would prefer to go over to an R134a system.

What I'm hoping to accomplish here is figuring out if I should put the York in the XJ or have it rebuilt for modern refrigerants. If it helps, the car it's coming off of is a US-Spec 1969 Rover 2000TC.

About 1/2 way down the page are some links regarding York Compressors. May be of help identifying the compressor.

Not to be a jerk, but for some reason the link redirects to Microsoft. Any chance of a repost?

Aw, quit being a jerk!! J/K.

That's wierd. here as the link again. If, for some reason it doesn't work let me know. I saved all the info in a .pdf format. It's about 15 pages but I'll get it to you somehow.

EDIT: Tested link after posting and it works for me. Let me know how it works out.

When you copy and paste a URL out of your browser, it includes the "HTTP://" portion, and the box provided by the forum has that portion already in it, so you need to remove one set of "HTTP://"s from the URL.

try it again

Yea, I see that in my first post, I usually catch that, missed it that time:hang: . My second post of that URL works, I just tried it again to make sure.
