Yella's 5.9 ZJ thread

Holy Keerap that is one very built ZJ. The thing just sounds wicked....... and it's really wierd to hear that kinda noise come from a GC. The guy does good work and is super meticulous with his fab work. That thing had FIVE radiators on it for the different fluid systems. Electric exhaust cut outs were a really cool touch.

I now know that I will be getting 18x9's with 255/55's .......... they just look right on a ZJ as do the lowering springs. (pic shown is prior to the lowering springs).

But, the ZJ is now back together with the headlights re-aimed, all the gaps look good now and nothing wiggles up front. Pretty stupid design though - there isn't anyway to replace bulbs up front without taking most of it apart again....... :mad.

Not sure if I have a short somewhere, but the front turn signal bulbs (3157's) don't light up with the parking lights on. Only the corner markers. Early research seems to indicate that the turn signal bulbs never did work as parking lights on the ZJ's....... but why dual fillament bulbs????

Surfing on NAGCA I found a thread where a guy with this '98 ZJ did a write up on making his turn signals light up with the corner markers....... he swapped out the single fillament bulb plugs with dual fillament plugs from ZJ tail lights...... and spliced into the corner lights.

I'd have thought this is how they'd have worked in the first place........ maybe not? :dunno:

Hold on...off road tires and lowering springs?
What's going on in your life(mid-life crisis?)

Ok, pay attention dingleberry..........

The thread takes you from my meeting a guy with that black, super-built lowered ZJ where I got the replacement lenses, to me having installed the lenses and finding that the signals don't light up with parking lights on........

I then post a pic found on NAGCA of a guy that modified his ZJ's turn signals to work with the parking lights. The pic is to show what the modified lights look like when on. It's not of the tire/wheel combination.

It's called "transitional discussion".......... Where one topic changes to a new one.

:dunce:

Link to write-up? I want to do this!

So...... I take it that the lights don't normally light up with the parking lights on then huh?

Search "parking lights" on NAGCA. That's how I found it.

there are 3 bulbs total, two light up as parking lights, the main forward facing one directly below the headlights is a blinker, and IIRC the side bulb on that lower lens is a dual filament that blinks aswell.. they interval between the two.

Ahhhh......... the sweet sound of NON-blown stereo speakers......

Swapped those out last night. Found a full set of good ones in a ZJ Limited the last time I was out trying to find that signal lens.

That Infinity Gold 10-speaker system they sold in the Limited's isn't a half-bad sounding system.

Traded an XJ sound bar and speakers for a Sony Xplode 222 amp and JL Audio 12" sub....... I'll probably have to defer to the youngsters in the club for help installing those...... :D
