Question, are the chinese "safari snorkel" knock off's any good, i mean its all just plastic anyways?

I found out that my audio supplier in china is connected with the manufacturer of 4x4 products, sor he's actually going to ship me one, no minimun order required, the price is $89 snorkel set + $25 for the precleaner snorkel head, should i worry about quality here or is it worth the risk? what are the risk involved if this thing is not up to snuf, i mean what can really go wrong with a snorkel, and it looks exactly like a safari snorkel to the T.

thanks in advance for your help.

Cost of ship + the snorkel.. is almost as much as a safari snorkel.

and this one would cost you less than $200 shipped assuming the Canadian rate is the same as their US rate (which is often the case on product shipped from Pan Asia)

WTF is this? Is this just a cut out to show the construction or is this what you get? This is that 2nd snorkel.

dear GOD! that looks like something a grade 6 class cut out in shop class. I'm starting to think that maybe paying a bit more for the original safari snorkel will save me a tone o headache, or maybe designing my own. thanks for everyones input. Now to see if my supplier can get any of those jeep 2500 parts everyones talking about in the other board, I just found the posts and I think they (jeep 2500) look sweet.

haha... "grade 6." got your thinking tuuk on eh? haha. sorry, i plowed a canadian chica and i think ive been watching to much Trailer Park Boys. "Grade ##" gets me every time.

im not going to harsh on you too much though. i love your beer. and i swear the blue tastes different once your on cadian soil.

but on topic: i think ya get what ya pay for with the snorkle. and if you can source the 2500 conversion parts without a minimum order thatd be the first case ive seen of that. i like the look, but dont have the time, money, or another vehicle to drive to do it.

I think that's the "1 fibreglass template (for marking)" mentioned in the auction. Could be wrong though.

I wouldn't touch that crap with a 10 foot stick.

From one of the auctions:
Although item made by quality material, its still CANNOT compete with the branded snorkel made using polyethylene material
= Although item made by quality material, our production and assembly is complete and utter shite. Don't call us when your engine ingests water because we just told you its not really functional.

They do not look too bad actually, but maybe spend the extra 50-100$ on "the real deal"

Well good, news, my supplier from china says he can get me the jeep 2500 parta, i send him a flyer from alec parts as a referance, just so there is no mixup on parts i want. heres the e-mail i got

Hello Albert

We have despatched all parts to you, will eith you in next 5days, and we are able to obtain those cherokee parts but i do not think we can do at those price.

Regards
Ben

i'll start a new thread as soon as i get the price list.

Cheers

soon as he gets back to me i'll post all corespondance on these forums, then ya'll could ask about the other stuff your interested in thats not on the alec parts flyer. i'm sure if he can get one he can prolly get the other, Ben is a solid guy to deal with in china, he likes to jack prices up initially but over the years i've learned to haggle with the guy. but bottom line is if he says he can get something, then theres no BS'n about it. i'll keep ya'll posted

cheers

Al
