so chris and i took our junk down winding stairs. had a blast, this is one of the only trails in rampart that is actually a challenge. i almost messed up the hard top by coming a hairs breath from flopping the LJ on its side and chris had to gun his xj to keep if from going a$$ over teakettle.

here are some pics, there was a video camera in use and the owner said she would forward me the video.

It scared the crap out of me back in 1999. In my then stocker, I thought I was going to roll once or twice. I was all alone too.

How did you get through the gate at the bottom, on the other side of the Lake?

I was lucky then. Someone fishing that day had a key/or combo to the pad lock on the gate. He wasn't too happy about letting me out, but it was better than driving around it. He told me that it was an ATV/motorcycle trail only. He didn't give me any credentials though.

I was a newbie back then and probably should have just turned around and drove back up. Those fishing were pretty surprised to see me on that side of the gate...driving around the lake. :)

The up is pretty easy, its the down that stains your shorts. I think a locker on at least one end is highly recommended -- you can see all the wheel lifts I was doing, and without a rear locker, I would have been a trail ornament:greensmok Fun time - great spotting from Sean, and if and when the video of me nearly going endo in the same spot above where Sean is all flexed out shows up, I may or may not want to watch!:(

it is a fun trail. it is not atv only but it seems a lot of folks that visit the lake think it is we had to pull some trees out of the trail that someone had thrown into the trail at some very dangerous spots. unfortunately it seems that the battle for trails is getting worse here in colorado and because folks that hike in see a gate at the lake that says no vehicle access they assume that includes all the land above the lake as well.

there were a lot of folks at a meet and greet i went to later that night that expressed and interest in running the trail so i may lead another run in a few weeks before the weather shuts it down ill post up a time if i get it together for anyone here that wants to go.

Like a top, Adam. I'm just glad it didn't end up on its top Saturday, cause it got a bit closer than I would like!:wave1:
