I see you have long arms bosco. Is that crossmember made for them or did you modify it for them?

I'm 99% sure he bought the full Iron Rock long arm kit.

The entire long arms set up is from IRO.

imho it looks like a shovel.... i love my tnt skid with rockcrawler link brackets. it slides perfect over the rocks.

Its way beefier than the stock crossmember. It's not specifically designed to protect the tcase and I don't have another picture of it. If you are looking specifically for a kit with a lot of protection I would try rough country. Their kit comes with a t-case skid.

does that crossmember use only the 3 tcase bolts? Stupid.

Yes and thanks for your insightful comment. You really added a lot to this conversation.

It is stupid. Sorry if the obvious offends you.

Very little reinforcement in that area. It's only designed to hold the transfer case not all the torque a front axle sees.

I haven't had a single issue with it. It works perfect for my DD. I'm just curious what you run?

Wow man, have you ever been under your jeep? Tranny x-member has two holes, the other hole has to be tapped. It is this way for EVERY long arm crossmember I have personally ever seen. But I guess maybe you would say TNT customs makes "stupid" products?

Go troll somewhere else.

I love reading car forum threads where one/two/a bunch of people report great success with a product for X years and then like 1 or 2 people jump in and say like, "OMFG U R GOING TO DIE-THAT DESIGN IS CRAZY AWFUL-EVERYONE RUN!!!!1!" :)
It's the same shit on Mustang forums.

You guys crack me up. Maybe I should have said lacking intelligence that way I wouldn't offend your sensativities.

I guess you haven't seen a ton then.

Pretty sure I have more time under my Jeep than most of the people here.

btw mine has frame 3/16 angle welded to the bottom of the frame. Drilled out 3 holes in the proper location and welde 1/2" grade 8 nuts to the top (no tapping of 1/8 steel for a false sense of security for me) Then I also use the t-case bolts so thats 5 per side into substantial metal not thin crap. Also I have small tabs welded so the sheer is not on the bolts either.

But I guess yours is ok for driving around town to your job and impressing your little friends.

Just an FYI Hadfield is no troll. He has been here for quite a while. He just does not post much! :twak: I know clayton has theirs welded on. Really the clayton crossmember is the only one that I have ever considered running.

Why bash companys cause you don't like there set up? I guess if you didn't think of a easier way to do it, they suck right? OH well to each there own..

I'm new in here, My apologies, so maybe you aren't a troll. You came into the thread just hating on things, and then you mistakenly said 3 tcase bolts, and I thought "who is this guy coming in here just to start crap, he probably hasn't even got long arms" so I jumped.

Anyway, this is good, we can bring this back to discussing this/all crossmember/s. I still am just not convinced that all of that reinforcing is necessary. Can you show us some case where not having it, and using just the three holes has proven to be an issue?

The OP asked for opinions. I gave one. If people can't hack it don't ask for it.

Not easier but better.

There is just so much I could say here, but since you apologized I'll subside with the verbal jousting. Pretty sure about 80% of the people here can't/won't follow me.

No because people don't do it. Your "frame" is just thin sheet metal. A unibody gets its strength from the overall structure no a individual piece. Look at the area where the stock short arm brackets are. It is beefier there. Not like where the tranny crossmember area. It is always better to spread the load. With the stock the load is spread over 4 places (frame mounts) and there is thick metal there.

So do you seriously think that combining 4 mounts to 2 (radius arms) then increasing the torque applied (long arms vs short arms) and mounting them to an area that also has twisting effects for the tranny and is half the thickness a good idea?

I don't think so. At least if a person is going to actually wheel it. If they just want to show off, drive fire roads and brag about long arms then I guess its fine.
