So my buddy and I went up to Big Bear this last weekend and went from Cleghorn all the way through Silverwood lake/ Lake Arrowhead, through Holcomb Creek to the 18 on the desert side. I had no problem with the blue runs... but the diamonds runs looked fun but difficult with the big rocks. :eek:Dishpan Springs is where i needed some rock guards/sliders.
So does anyone have any sliders? Or any fabricators out there do any for a good price? I wanna to hit some real four wheeling.

Hey dude hit up mike willy51, I have a set of his rock rails and dude, they are beef. If you want pics shoot me a pm with your number, and i will take some pics and send them to you when i leave for work.

peace

Awesome, thanks Ted. I just sent him a PM.
I sent you my # as well, shoot me some pics :D

Brandon I just built my sliders and the material isn't even that cheap. I prolly dumped $100 in material alone, and spent at least 8 hours Fabbing them up. If you can afford to spend 250 on a set of sliders iron rock Offroad has a set you can get. But unless people like Fabbing stuff up for super cheap or out of the goodness of their hearts. 250 isn't a bad deal on a set of basic sliders.

If I sound like a prick I apologize it's not intended like that, what I'm getting at is cost of material isn't as cheap as you would think it would be.

Exactly! Material cost is one of my biggest issues, and seems they keep raising the price.

I am working on a design for sliders, but it won't be ready for sale for a week or two.

If you want to go with IRO I can give a discount on their products if you order though me.

you do, because he didn't ask for cheap, he asked for a good price. Chill out man not everyone has the ability or the tools to build their own shit. Hell if i had the proper welder, and the know how to build rails 150$ profit for 8 hours work seems like a good Saturday to me.

X3 for willy51.

Mike has a bunch of product he builds, and in development.
Another bonus with Mike's stuff is you have a option to drop your Jeep off at his shop, and pick it up with the rails installed.

Looking forward to seeing these - sliders are the last piece of armor I need and I can save on shipping if I buy them from you and pickup locally.

Any hints on what they will look like - just a rail or will it have to secondary pivot/step tubing?

No offense taken bro.
I'm not looking for a cheap crap job... i would like a good product at the end. Nice strong beefy rails that will hold up, for years to come. I totally understand how the price of material is now a days... I work with wood and different types of metals on my milling machine... and sometimes it seems like a rip off of what companies charge for materiel. But a $100 in materiel is not that bad... its labor i am more worried about.
I've heard good stuff about Max's work... but I still want to check Ted's rails that Mike did. Im new to the XJ world, but I've been four wheeling for years so i know what im looking for. After rails i will wanna get a front bumper fab. as well. I would rather spend a few extra bucks to get what will last... not this China bullshit that America is going to lol.

Ted, welder wages are $48/hr... 8 hours of labor is almost $400. So 250 is a pretty good deal. 350 for one with more protection like mine...Are u still mad we went up miller jeep trail without you? No need to Hold a grudge...

What I just finished building.

 Those are bad ass looking... what gauge steel did you use?

i like these as well. 8 hrs of fab isnt that bad if you have the time and you enjoy working on your junk. i for one am one of tose guys.

Brandon, it's 1/8" 2x3 tubing and 3/16 1x2 tubing. With 1/4" plates bolted/welded to the frame.
No Ted, nut yet anyways, my dad was and I work in the oilfields with a welder so I know what they make.
webdog 2 hours all by yourself Or did xcm help you? I also didn't have anything to go off of, I drilled out the plates, put everything in place using a jack, measured, cut, tack welded it in place unbolted my plates took it off and welded it all up... 2 hours sounds like you had it all pre-fabbed up... Maybe 2 hours per side using a quality mig welder on gas, not flux core... Creeper's dont roll that great in the dirt btw lol. Plus I stopped for food and water. It was an all day job for me.
