Anyone have, or know of the availability of a Detroit to fit an 8.8?

No, but I got the reamer today! Thanks, bro

I have not heard of any used Detroits. I assume that's what you are looking for?

The carrier is the weak point on an 8.8.

And we all know if something has a weak point, or even a slightly less than bulletproof point, you'll find it :D

Tell me about it.
If I had spline cutting capability I'd just machine a ring gear flange and bearing stubs in a solid chunk-o-steel.
The Cabo Engineering Super Spool.

The 'What's that stuff I used to drink back when I had fun?' Engineering Super Spool.

Repaired, but not under warranty.

P.S. You are building the 8.8 equivalent of a Super 35.
Go D60 or 9"...for the love of Jeebus.
I know the 8.8 is not a notoriously weak axle, but you break it...a lot.
Take a donation.
