WTB: 4.56 gearing for dana 30 hp

i need a high pinion dana 30 4.56 ring and pinion. i can buy it or trade you for a 4.88. let me know what ya have!

33's is the plan, and i think 4.56's will be a good gear for that, no? i'm building a dual transfer box as well so i'll have uber creeper gears

Well everyone has an opinion on 4.56 vs 4.88 for running 33's. I would say if you already have the 4.88 geared, just stick with that.

With the manual tranny running 33's and 4.88's you will be rowing thru gears like crazy on the street. I would say the 4.56's are the way to go seeing as you don't have the 4.88's installed yet.

Too bad you don't want 4.10's as I have a d30/d44 set. I figure they will work for my 33's, but I am already considering 35's, so the 4.88's sound tempting.

it's not really geared yet, i'd have to redo everything anyways so it doesnt really matter. i was actually leaning towards 4.10's but i figured i'd go with the 4.56's since i have them

Just stick with the 4.88s, you have a 5 speed so freeway driving will still be fine.

having a 5 speed is actually worse, it has a lower 5th gear than the 4th gear on an automatic.

That is exactly what I was going to say. Plus, the extra high gearing means you will be shifting through ALL the gears while just cruising around on side streets. It may not be a big deal, but it can get annoying.

ye, i'm definitely not running 4.88's with 31's. i didnt even want to run 4.56's with 31's but i know i'll go a little bigger down the road so i'll deal.
