WRX seats?

I swear I saw someone that was selling a shell with WRX seats in it and meant to ask how they were mounted and have since forgotten who it was.

Anyone own up to it? I want some nicer seats.

That was probably my project XJ with the cage and 2dr shell. I found a nice set of seats in a Subie Impreza RS, but not the WRX.

I had welded up seat mounts to the cage tubing that ran along the floor, then modified the seat bracket feet to sit squarely on the mounts on the cage. Not an "easy" project due to the welding/fabbing and the seat adjuster sliders are spaced so wide on those seats, I had to cut and notch out part of the trans tunnel to make 'em fit.

If you look at the second pic, you can see 3 of the 4 orig. seat mount holes in comparison to where I had to mount the Subie seats to the cage and trans tunnel.

Basically, there aren't any real "bolt in" seat replacements for our rigs that don't cost a fortune. You're gonna need to do some fabbing to get most seats to work - and you need to pay attention to the width of the seat base to make sure it clears for front and back movement.

I've skimmed a few threads that talk about ZJ seats being easy to adapt to the XJ pedestal. Couldn't tell you how much power the heaters need. ;-)

I'm willing to bet the new owner will part with that project if the right offer is made. Still has the 'roo seats too.

I'm just tickled my damn XJ doesn't leak coolant anymore, it was getting old having to top it off all the time.

I got lucky at p-n-s recently, found a leather driver's seat in good condition?!?!? That's kinda odd for a '90 Limited. It's a big improvement over the cushy cloth covered seat someone put in. I'll just have to wait for the heated seats. LOL
