Wrangler 5 on 5 Wheels on XJ with Adapters/Spacers?

I'm new and I read all of the stickies and searched for half an hour.

Anyways, will the wheels off of a 2009 Wrangler with 5 on 5 bolt pattern work? Is there reasons to not do this? Thanks!

There are a few variables you did not list:
First, is your XJ stock, or has it had some suspension work done?
Second, what size tire and wheel combo are you considering?

For What Its Worth, I bought a set of Sahara wheels with tires and used the adapters offered by Serious Offroad Products.

At +/- 2.5" of lift, the 255/70R 18 tires rubbed on turns, while driving to the grocery store. At +/- 4" of lift, the tires only rub when the front suspension is flexed out, while turning.

Thanks for the welcome! Before I install them, I will do a 3 inch lift. Factory says 31's will work, these are 32's.

You can but you'll need to run adapters.

XJ stock bolt pattern is 5x4.5"

They'll work with adapters. I'm on jk rubi takeoffs with a 4" lift and it's about perfect

You might have some rubbing when the springs flex. I added bump stops with the two inch lift. I think they keep the current configuration from rubbing as well.

I have 31.5" ATs on JK Moab wheels/wheel adapters on my stock height MJ. Front only rubs the stock LCA's at full turn, my fenders are already trimmed.


Good quality wheel adapters will work good. Most of the ones I have seen are hub and wheel centric. On ebay there are a hand full of FULL sets of (4) ranging from 70-100. Synergy suspension makes some really nice wheel adapters/spacers for a little more money.
Amazon has some sets for sale as well. I actually got my lug nuts on amazon. 20 for 15$

I have the rubicon 17" wheels and the 265/75r17 BFG MTs with 1.25" wheel adapters and about 4.5" of lift. I don't rub, but I pushed my axle forward about an inch or so.

I'm running JK Rubicon wheels and tires on my XJ. I went with Rugged Ridge adapters. I had to do a bit of minor trimming on my stock flares at the rear bottom edge. I'm running RE 3.5 superflex lift.

Thanks for taking the time to upload the pics. Downright inspiring me to get off my arse and get to work on the XJ. I'm in the middle of welding long stainless steel plates over my driver's side door hinges, because the door was damn near falling off. It's coming together surprisingly well.

I'm waiting for an F250 pickup to sell, so I can get the lift and wheels. Can't wait!

Islander, those are the wheels I really wanted but the ones I have fell into my lap at the right time at a good price. I do need to get that trim back on.

17" JK Moabs painted black, 4.5" lift, Rough Country adapters, 255/65r17 tires

Went with spidertrax wheel spacers 1 1/4 inch flavor, im sitting on 2.5'' of lift with 265/70 all terrains (31.5/10.50) and it only rubs at full lock or full stuff but a little bumpstop will fix that.

I've got JK Rubi take off on mine with a 2in BB. It's a work in progress, and a trail jeep. Used three hockey pucks in the front coils as bump stops, and just let the rear rub. It' gets around, but need some major trimming to work so much better. IF I Remember Correctly there are three different widths of adaptors/spacers to go with, and I chose the middle size. In hind sight I wish I would have went with the widest they offer to push the wheels out farther to keep the tires from rubbing the inner fender.
