Would you pay $4500 for

still thinkin abut this jeep. drive by it every once in a while.

originally it came with a 30 day warranty, but now has been changed to "as is, no warranty"

i have driven it and was pretty impressed. lots of noise at 70mph, but i think it was just the mudders on it. some metallic clunking when at full lock. but i went and took pictures today so maybe you guys can let me know if you see any problems or good things. looks like both axels are locked. looks like a nice rig, but want to see the opinion here.

56K beware

here come the pics......

its also got MSD iginition that i saw on the test drive, but could not get a pic today cause could not get the hood open.

so what you think...?

That thing looks like its been beat on hard

i know its normal for you east coast guys, but man the rust scares the crap out of me. looks like a well built rig with weak points addressed

yeah this thing has NO rust compared to some rigs around here. all rust is surface only, and all suspension components look new other than the steering stabilizer.

what does the back axel look like...?

it has obviously been used for what it was built for, and has some pretty decent parts in it. how much do you think its worth.

its a gamble buying something like this, maybe i can talk the price down becuase it does look pretty beat up

edit: yeah that is a D35... with all that work done to it, i dont think he had that axel on when he wheeled it. Maybe he swapped it before he sold it and kept the other axel he was using.
Make an oiffer at 4k for it, its well worth 4500, no rust in the rasiator/resovor?

I don't see any rust. :smoker:

It looks like it does/did have ARB's, atleast in the rear... didn't get a good view of the front to look for the airline. Also looks like it's been beat on pretty hard and put away wet a few times.

For 4 grand, I would buy it and swap everything over to mine. Put the stock parts off mine on it and sell it for 2k.

*EDIT* I think I see the airline for the front now.

Its got alot of damage. Witch means alot of hard offroading. Also you can see where at one point it had rock rails but they have been removed. Its got alot of after market stuff witch makes it very tempting but I would be very careful doe to all the abuse. Good luck with it

Looks like a great trail rig. Looks like ARB's fron and rear(at least air lines going into the housings...)

That's not log arms, it's control arm drop brackets.

Lot's of rust and well used parts, but a good deal for what it is.

Tell him $1500 trade in for yours and $3k....

Good luck!

I think i could probably talk him down to 4 grand, and then just sell my 93 privately.

I need a reliable rig, becuase it will be my only transportation. this thing needs to be able to drive around town about 8 - 10K miles a year, as well as do well on light to moderate trails. When i test drove it it rode real well, and the engine sounded dead quiet. no wierd noises at all.

yes it does have switches for 2 arb lockers in it, and a small compressor under the hood which powers on by switch in the cab , but i have never had lockers, so dont know how to get them going, if i need to turn on the compressor then the switches... they have lines to them, but i dont know if they are even hooked up and neither does the guy selling it.

also doesnt have the remote for the winch....any way to run that with out it.

im havin a tough time deciding what to do here. it has some pretty quality stuff on it...

I was just about to chime in with that myself, SandmCrew. I would say go for it, for 4500, its a great deal. And anything that goes out on it can easily be fixed i am sure. And i dont doubt that Warn sells replacement remotes for their winches, its not like they are indestructable. Speaking of the winch its also got a synthetic cable, those are worth a bit too, as far as cables go. DO IT, and dont look back.

Saw a XJ for sale locally today. If you guys could help me out and let me know if this seems like a good deal that would be great.

98 XJ 4 door
105K miles
auto

ARB front bumper
rock hard rear bumper with tire carrier
trans cooler
gas tank skid
transfer case skid
crager soft 8's
32" good year mt/r
old man emu nitro shocks
jks upper/lower CA's
thinking maybe between 3.5 and 4.5 inches of lift

looks a little banged up. both bumpers have some dings in them, and the gutters are a little bent in. also the hatch has a big dent in it as well as the metal near one of the rear windows

looks built well, but possibly beat on. this thing wont die on me will it? hard to tell.

thanks for any advice

Nope, just me though. You can get a much better jeep for less or the same, but this one you will regret getting if you do.

I'm not a fan of buying someone else's modified vehicle, you never know how well the work was done, and how hard they've used those parts.

I buy stock, then do my own.

Get one stock in better condition.

When you add the mods yourself I think you get a better appreciation for the vehicle and whats been done to it. Modding the vehicle is half the fun, getting everything the way YOU want it and not how someone else wanted it!

It looks like it would hold up on the trail, but if you are looking for a reliable DD then you should look into something stock(ish). From the look of it, it has been used and abused and I don't think you want someone elses junk.

Exactly. Theres more pride in saying your built it than bought it.

HUH

I have the greatest respect for Nick(53guy) but I would buy that in a heartbeat for that price. I have enjoyed the build up on my piece of junk but that just has too many good parts on it for that price.
Yes it may have been run hard but so has half of our own Jeeps so what. Thats what they were intended for in the first place. Thats what we do.
