Job I currently have isn't going the way I wanted it to go and am honestly just tired of it really. I will keep it but will continue to look for something else in the mean time. I have been reading where alot of people are working from home doing stuff with these companies to earn a living. I understand that 99% of them are scams, but I do know that there are some legit companies out there that do this. Anyone know anyone personally who has done this?...My GF is off every Friday and has always asked me if there are ways for her to make some extra money for us....I would really like to dig into this more even make it a possibility for me...I am just tired of the current position I am in and want something fresh and exciting, where I can actually work and not get payed to sit all day and do nothing and work for a company where I don't have to constantly worry about being shipped off to somewhere new...(I know some of you wish you could get payed to sit and type of the computer, but to me....it sucks!)

Are you talking about working from home in a real profession, or working for those signs on the side of the road?

I've worked from home for over 6 years now. My brother-in-law and his wife have both worked from home for 8 years or more.

One of us does sales for major retail office supply chains, one does PR for some very well known network monitoring software, and one of us does web development.

Breaking in to the "remote" position is a fairly hard thing to do. Many of my friends in my field haven't been able to do it for any number of reasons. The best way to approach it is to pitch the idea to your boss in the fact that they will save money, and you will save money and time. My company has access to me 24/7 because they don't have to call me at home and ask me to drive in to an office.

What profession are you in?

I am in industrial sales. I have a remote territory. I work from home. Our main office is 3 hours from my house and my territory extends another 5 hours in one direction. I really love it. My kids are all old enough to leave me alone. I spend most days driving to see customers. I end up working more hours than if I went to the office. It's just odd times. Sometimes I wake up at 3am and realize I forgot to do something. Instead of laying awake worrying about forgetting it I do it. But I've been known to cut my grass in the middle of the day.
