Set a different goal. Ive worked at a couple dealerships. Nothing good came from it. Not great paying, not very secure, very political. There are only two good dealership jobs: salesman and tech. The rest are here today, gone tomorrow.

Anyway, good luck with the job and keep an open mind about it.

I've been in the dealership scene now for ten years, done most of everything on the service/parts side. 5 years at a yoda dealership and 5 at a suby dealer. Its not that bad, every job has it's moments, I'm sure we don't all work at our dream jobs!

not bashing you man.. But, how can you support a family working in the parts department at the dealership?? I have worked at a couple dealerships and the only guys that really make the money are managers... and NOT parts managers. IE: service, sales, and general managers.

You got that right. I havent even thought of my "dream job" for many years.
He said his dream job is "dealership parts dept" though. If thats true, hopefully one of us should eventually be working their dream job.

Easily, the wife works too.....

The pay may not be top notch, but it's job and THAT is what I NEED right now....

I could become a tech, but HATE working on other peoples vehicle under pressure of deadlines.....

Now on to the :BS:

I didn't get the call back yesterday, so I called them this morning (and talked to the parts manager) and let them know I was still interested. I also left a message (after being transfered from the parts dept.) for the Service Manager (as he oversees the parts dept. as well.

Time will tell...Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of time.....

What's the word, did our luck work? :P

Wow, long a$$ thread and no pay off! I feel like I got to the back of the book and the last few pages have been ripped out. What happened poorboy?

Nothing yet, waiting on a phone call....

I also have apps out out Fred Meyer and Home Depot in Loss prevention.....(I am a licensed Private security officer in Oregon...)

And the BAD NEWS!!!

I didn't get it!!!

S-O-B!!!

Looks like I am still screwed....

Time to call Home Depot and Fred Meyers about my apps there.....

Sorry to hear that. You said this guy is your neighbor? Sheesh!

Tell me about it....

There is ALWAYS someone better qualified for the job I am looking for...

I am seriously considering moving back to the PDX area and looking there....

My wife's not happy about that, but it may be the only choice....

Well I didn't expect that. Screw them, you'll get something better.

It's a matter of time and whats available now.....

I will take just about anything at this point.

I would even work at a teenager infest shit hole Fast food place just to make ends meet..... I know the gal that runs the place, so I may be able to get the assisitant Manager position when it comes up again....

I don't want to, but I may have to for now.

I would prefer to stay within my realm of autotive repair/parts.....

I would become a tech (again) but I two issues... 1) I hate working on other peoples cars under a deadline (previously mentioned), and 2) I have a badly injured shoulder that will require surgery to repair. It's bad enough that I have trouble picking up my 30 lb son. I can work on vehicles, but it causes me great pain....
