I don't think the OP has posted back results yet, but my suggestion on windshield cracks is...

STOP! HAMMERTIME

(as I said earlier in the thread, and it seems Shorty agrees!)

you don't believe this was the final result of the "home remedy?"

I swear, all I did was dump some salt, water, isopropal alcohol, and bug juice onto the windshield.......

And big plastic flowers sprouted on the roof? Try marketing it to the hair club for men,...

I had a small star chip that I decided to try to fix. The chip was really small and had 3 spider leg cracks coming off it. You couldn't feel the cracks insider or outside, the glass was cracked somewhere under the surface.

I used a kit from the parts store and followed the easy directions. Turned out about what I expected. The glass is now perfectly smooth but you can still see the cracks. I would say the cracks are 60% less visible and the actual chip is now 90% less visible.

The chip wasn't in my eye line so it was never a big deal, I just didn't want it to spread and ruin the whole windshield. So, hopefully with it sealed now it won't spread...

I have also read this and wanted to try it. U can also use off mosquito repellant on a rag to renew Ur lens on headlamps and tail lamps with yellow tint on them, this does work I have tried it but spray onto rag then apply and move or rub, do not hold In the same spot as this will melt the plastic. Other method would be to buff it out with compound. Do not use a fuzzy like rag, as it may leave little cotton specks all over, haven't experienced that but just guessing

The bug spray is starting to make more sense

Took that long to come up with that?

For the record, my repair is as good as the day I made it, no problems at all.

I actually have another vehicle with a small chip and went to use the same repair kit and found out that they no longer sell it. All the new repair kits use some new style setup and supposedly aren't as good as the one I used. Mine had some syringe that sucked air out before injecting the epoxy junk into it. I guess they did away with that system, which sucks it worked really well.
