I am planning to install vent visors.
I'd like to use the in channel type and I'd like to know if they will interfere
with the windows closing.
What happens to the window seal, does it have to be removed?
If not how wiil the visor fit?
I have power windows and don't want to strain the motor everytime
I close my windows.

I bought some Ventvisor brand visors about 5 years ago. They are the type that stick on the outside of the window edging, but I converted them to the channel type by replacing the double sided tape and trimming them so that they fit inside the window channel. I fitted them between the rubber window trim and the metal window frame, so that when the window is rolled up, it is still in contact with the felted rubber trim rather than the visor itself. Mine are about 2mm thick and although they pushed the felted rubber trim a bit more into the channel, it has never been a problem when rolling up the window. In fact I have never noticed any difference; there was certainly no extra resistance against the window glass when rolling up. I don't have power windows, but I really can't imagine that it would adversely affect your motors...

i had the type that snap in the window channel in my daily driver focus. had them on for about 3.5 years, and 110,000 miles. no problems at all, no whistles, leaks, interference or noise (even up to 100 mph) . they had a nice clean look. i highly recomend them.

Thanks, I was concerned that they might interfere with window operation.
Now that I know that they don't, I'll get the in channel type.

AutoVentShade. Had them for 6 years on my Ranger (in channel design). No problems, no fading - absoultely love them. Will be getting a set soon for my newly acquired XJ. :flipoff:

Thanks, I just won an ebay bid for for a set of 4 weathertechs.

Update, I installed the set in the wife's WJ and she loves them.
The price including shipping was $13 and they were in like new condition.
I kinda like them too. I think I'll look for them next time I need visors.

be really careful with any that go inside the window channel. I had some and about the 3rd or 4th time out, I got a bunch of dirt thrown up into the window area, didn't notice and it scratched the hell out of my window. it only scratched about a quarter inch all the way around, but it still did. Just food for thought.
