I have a M8000 that is a bear to free spool. What will cause this and how do I fix it. Anyone got a detailed parts or service manual for them. I bought it second hand so it came with no manuals.

Check the manufacturers website for a parts list and manual. You should be able to tear it down, clean, lube and rebuild it without too much difficulty.

I had my HS9500 rebuilt and it was even HARDER to freespool.
The shop that did it said "it's the nature of HS winches w/ the double planetary system and all".
Having two planetary sets sounded funny to me, but whatever.
I'm a skinny dude, but strong, and it takes almost all my effort to pull the damn thing out.

Finally got arround to pulling it apart. This is what I found. Bushing on the gear side was trashed. Probably would have toasted the winch eventually.
Will clean it all up when the parts get here and put it back together. So if it is not working right look into it. This is $4 worth of parts. lol!
