Just got back from a trip up there this weekend.

Metal Fences with snow fence filler have been erected to prevent access to any of the Pipeline trail south of a point some 1000 feet south of the challenge area called "Thunder Mountain". The trail length of this northern section of the trail is about 2 miles, and extends between Bucks Ranch road and FR-2102C.

Much of this had been closed to motorized traffic. I observed more closures when I was up there.

When WOHVA took over the care of this trail from the Wisconsin 4-Wheel Drive Association, they were supposed to keep it open, or create an alternative route that was less of a risk in the NFS's collective mind.
I don't have any feedback from them on what is the future of this Historical trail.

Yes, it sucks, but I still recommend taking time out of your day to check out the section of the trail that is open if you are in the area, or just out for a Sunday drive.

There is a long hill that is all rocks. There is a bypass to that hill, and it has also become challenging with age. If you haven't done it, download the latest MVUM at the NFS site. You are looking for the Lakewood District. Look for FR 5552.

I recommend starting at Bucks Ranch and going south. The trail will end shortly after that long hill, and exit right on 2012C.
