Im moving there.. would like to know whats the good parts and whats the bad parts?
im trying to find a house to rent so if you know of one? or have one?
I live 10 minutes north of the city. If you want to be near ALOT of trails, (like drive to the trails close) I would recommend Northern Jefferson Co. Like Mt. Olive, Fultondale, Gardendale, Warrior, or Kimberly. Of course those are just a few. It's not hicktown, but it's def not inner city. Plus there's TONS of 4x4's up here. An amazing Fab shop, Offroad Connection, in Fultondale. Grayrock ORV 3000 acre park is in Mt. Olive. So that's reason enough right there. Lol.
I live in Pelham. It is a great place to live. Gray Rock is a 45min drive from my doorstep, but its mostly interstate. I go every chance I get. I work downtown, you do not want to live in or near downtown. Here are a few places worth living depending on your budget;
Homewood
MT. Brook
Hoover
Vestavia
Pelham
Helena
Fultondale

I'm couldn't have said it better. I'm in Hoover/vestavia area. No issues here at all. Love it. 25-30 mins to grayrock and the trails in Gardendale. Local club is www.caos4x4.com. We've got private land we wheel on also. Look us/me up when you get here, be happy to show you around.
Dr Randy.. i may have ridden with you at harlan last year? or met you at M&G? in murphysboro TN? maybe?

Thanks for all that pm'd me.. I feel welcomed already. Yes.. I know of all the offroading there is to do there. Im super excited. hows registration? is it expensive or cheap? i have 2 xj's 1 rubi, 1 truck and a trailer soon..
If anyone knows of a house for rent or some one looking for a roomie.. really appreciate it.
I ve been to Morris Mountain like 12 times, Mountainside about 3 times, Choccoloco 1times, Windrock in TN like 30 times, etc..... I ve been offroading for roughly 6 years. been with naxja as a member for almost 2 years.
Whats the offroad shops and fab places? i need some frame stiffeners and sliders welded on for both XJ's.
Thanks ...looking forward to some awesome offroading and meeting new people!
I registered on the Caos forum.
I'd invite you to stay here until you get established, but my sister and her child just moved back in. Ouch. I'll look in the local rental guide today after work.
I'll be riding all weekend. I may have a seat available one of those days if you want to go. Key work is "may". If I do you're more than welcome to join me.
ok.. ok.. Im looking for anyone with a spare room.. no more wife moving up anymore. The xj will have to stay put in SC for now.. Im driving back on the 10th go pick up the rubicon. I m thinking of getting a BTF diff cover to replace the leaking stock one just to say i m helping the alabama economy!
So. Everyone that saw my FB post of me P***Ying out for my job.. Just bitch slap me in the back of the head!
I m like 20 mins for Grey Rock.. why do i care about my job? SERIOUSLY!!!!
got a similar situation, might be moving to PELL CITY. trying to get a feel for the area. found some info online but need more "personal" info.
friendly area? family safe? lots of commuters? housing prices? weekend non-wheeling stuff?
school quality and reputation?
i ve been here 2 weeks. found out all kinds of stuff:
Rent is EXPENSIVE! a 3 bedroom house to rent is around $1000 - $1600
Found out theres a Pitbull ban in Gardendale, IronDale and Mountainbrook area.
I got lucky and found a roommate for $400/month.
No lottery here. So roads suck.
Dont go on I20 at 8am.. Dont get on hwy at 5pm...
Cheapest hotel i found is Motel 6 $31/night w/o Wifi (charge $3 a day)
Al people are super friendly..
Met some people from Naxja.. super cool!
BTF is here! Rustys is in AL, so is 4x4 rock shop
non wheeling stuff? AL does have bars!
Hooters has some hot ladies..
BBQ is really good.. Jim and Nicks seems to kick butt!
