I am Aaron Thompson, Many of you know me and have wheeled with me at the past 3 Winterfests and several other events around the midwest. I am an Employee at Cummins, Inc. where I have assembled injectors, machined fuel injector parts and assemblies and several other jobs. I have two dogs, Lucy and Rubi. I enjoy the outdoors, Jeeps(obviously) and guns. As many of you know, I was born with Becker's Muscular Dystrophy, which I try not to let get the best of me. I grew up in the town where I still live to this day.

I have also helped out with several trail clean ups and have been WF staff for the past 2 years. This chapter(and NAXJA) and general has been like a second family for me. I have learned a lot and made many new friends, some of which I still speak with/text on a daily basis.

In early October I made the 5 hour drive into the SEC to help out a fellow NAXJA member who recently lost his GF, his Jeep and nearly the lives of him and his daughter in a horrific accident. We converted his XJ to 4wd, lifted it and did many other things to it with the help of club members from as far as 7 hours away. That right there shows that this is a great club and I would like to help out this chapter the best I can.

Many of you also know I am a very non-serious person most of the time but when it comes to club issues I take them very seriously. I would appreciate any votes and look forward to helping the MWC in any way I can.

Thank you for your time! :patriot:

I will not vote for you. I will vote for myself :D But, Aaron is one hell of a guy. Good enough that I'd trust him with my life. He's got skin as thick as it comes and a good mind for the MWC.

Good luck, bro!

Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words.......... but I'm not voting for you! :D

I'll vote for you only if you put the toothless grille back in your Jeep

I have a question for all those running for an elected position on the MWC BOD:

With the MWC being one, if not the, most fiscally sound chapters of NAXJA, there is a decent amount of chapter funds that sit idle through the majority of the year. Now granted some of those funds are needed to put deposits in place for Winterfest or prepaying for shirts, hats, stickers, and available for matching funds programs from National, but the remainder of the funds are rarely tapped into. What are your thoughts of using some of those additional funds to "sponsor" a few "mini non-official" events split up across the chapter due to our overall size and locals? These funds could be used to help with food, firewood, minor prizes in the event of a drawing or raffle setting etc.

This was something I struggled with as the President. I wanted to give more back to the Chapter and these funds are the Chapters funds, belonging to the Chapters members....so why not come up with a way to "spread the wealth"?

Please discuss.

As a recorder, what are your thoughts on giving a monthly or bimonthly update on what is going on in the BOD meetings and chapter funds?

Kinda on the same page as tyler, how do you feel about chapter money going to non wheeling events like brewfest/piggig for food donations?

I think using the money towards mini-events and the like is a great Idea. For example John and Cindy are gracious hosts for brewfest sharing their home with all of us, providing food and shelter and of course beer. Jim provides his family property for us as well at pig gig with Hale and Travis helping with that. Catering and hogs are not really that cheap so i think pitching in to help them is a great idea. I also don't think the money should be abused.

I think the chapter members knowing what is going on is very important. Working in a company where many times info is not shared with its employees causes lots of rumors/bs because of this. It is essential, for me at least, to have some sort of idea as to whats going on. This is a different situation than work obviously but the same principle.

How do you feel about a second sanctioned annual event?

If we have the funds/volunteers/wheeling destination, yes i think its a great idea. If we didn't have the funds around, it wouldn't be a good idea. If there were to be a second event though, we'd need to find a place in the chapter where others who can't normally make WF have an easier time getting there. Plus, IMO Badlands is an OK place to wheel but there are many better locations to go for a summer/fall event.

I also have a question:

If you are elected will we see a spike in your post count?

:laugh3:
A spike in relevant posts, yes. Can't promise anything with the useless ones. :D
