who else stops and pulls out stuck cars all the time?

Every time I see something stuck.. lawn mowers.. cars.. etc. I get the urge to stop and help. I always have a strap with me. Sadly most of the time I'm already running late. Today, I was on the way to the parts store and saw a new Toyota Camry with a rear wheel hanging off the side of the road over a culvert. It was somewhat teetering. I busted a u-turn and pulled it out.

If I was any less than 100% sure I could pull her out without damaging her car I would not have helped. You never know when someone you are trying to help out might sue you...

Share your stories.. or urges..

ppl in my area have my number on speed dial because i always pull cars and trucks out no matter how big or where they are.....be surprised what that little jeep will yank out and i dont even have a winch.....yet

I get the urge to pull over if I see someone on the side of the road with the hood up. But people around here are pricks so it's just better for me to keep driving. If a friend needed help though, I'd drop what I'm doing and go.

Apparently cherbear's brother will stop and help too.(at least when he's got cherbear's jeep. :D )

how do you think i make my gas money in the winter :D i pull people out all the time around here when it snows. a few days ago some guys old pickup broke down so i stopped, turned out the battery was dead and he wanted me to push him with my jeep to get it started again. completely effed up his hatch but he didnt care, he even gave me some money haha

Yup. I have been known to drive around during and after storms looking for something to pull. One day on the way home from work, I came upon a young airman with the front half of his Ford truck stuck in a ditch, and one rear tire up in the air. I did a U-turn and pulled up behind him. He was on the phone with a tow company and I had the pleasure of pulling his truck out in a few seconds. I saved him some bucks and I got to use my Jeep for what nature intended.

Do it all the time... most of my friends call me up when their hondas are stuck in the snowbank in the winter and they can't get out of their parking spaces. I've helped a couple people with flat tires and given a few people rides too. Actually helped some guy trailering his new cherokee home one evening last week, was driving by and went "... is that an XJ on the trailer? I think it is", turns out he had a flat rear tire, had a spare but no lug wrench or jack.

I did have one crazy lady who I pulled over for act like I was a serial killer or something... hey lady, you have your emergency blinkers on, I thought it was an emergency :dunno: everyone else has been cool with it though. Amusingly, I ran out of gas 3 miles down the road after pulling over for her (my gas gauge didn't work at the time) and just as I was getting the emergency jerry can out to fill it back up, some recently-returned-from-iraq marine pulled over in a ZJ and asked if I was all set.

I figure eventually I'll end up in the same predicament the people I've helped are in, and just hope someone else thinks the same way and happens to be driving by when that happens.

i almost always stop to offer help. i pulled a stuck sdg&e ford ranger out of some iceplant/muck on the side of the freeway once. as a matter of fact, i even keep a couple shackles and a strap in the integra, just in case. the one exception: driving the xj through the local mountains last year while it was snowing pretty good, some lady was riding my ass in a camry. i pulled over and she blew by me going way too fast for the snow(plows hadn't been through yet-'bout 8" of snow on the road). she lost it on the very next curve. slid off the road into a ditch. i slowed down to make sure she wasn't hurt, she was fine. she started to put her window down, i smiled and waved and drove on. :wave1:

lol when this thread shows up on the main forum page, it says "who else stops and pulls out"

Carry on...

I'll take any opportunity to drop it in 4 low.. There is a lake near here that has an insanely steep boat ramp. I've seen a guy camp out all day and pull trucks hooked to boats up the ramp. Its common to see drunk morons making huge tire smoke clouds trying to get their boat out of the water.

I'll pull out another vehicle if;

They have recovery points either factory or aftermarket

The owner either doesn't care if it gets torn up or understands the risk.

If its out in the sticks and there is no cell service (which happens often here in the mountains) I will help them out in any way possible.

If its a Camry teetering over a culvert that person is SOL with me, I don't need a lawsuit taking food out of my kids mouths. And if they are drunk, forget it, I will call 911 for them.

several of yalll mentioneed lawsuits. i dont know about other states, but texas has a "good samaritan" law, that if you are trying to help someone, they willfully let you help, you arent getting paid, and if you screw up their car, they can't sue you.

Only once, because the dumbasses got their drivable but partially disabled TJ with only 2wd and an open rear diff stuck in a snowbank behind my work and my two dumbass now ex-co-workers thought it would be a good idea to physically rock the truck loose by jumping up and down on the bumpers.
I wanted to leave them there, thinking that if they were dumb enough to slam into snowbanks in a mall parking lot and get stuck, they could also hoove it the short distance to a pay phone but my friends decided that since they recognized these guys, they were going to help them out but instead of hooking a strap from the TJ to the Colorado or Exploder they were driving, they were just going to do the above. After about 10 minutes of this idiocy I walked over to the TJ's driver and asked if he had any tow ropes with him because I would pull him out if he did while trying to sound somewhat annoyed. I pulled my XJ over by them and the driver hooked his strap to both Jeeps and I pulled him free, they thanked me and we went on about our night. And of course no good deed go's unpunished, so some asshat breakes into my XJ within a week and stole a bunch of stuff inlcuding a couple RC's:smsoap:

ya considering a guy can break into my house and cut himself on some glass and sew me for having a unsafe living environment and win, i dont stop for idiots
