Which cellphone providers do you use.

I haven't been to thrilled with AT&T since they took over Cingular and am looking fo some other options.

Cricket seems to have decent rate plans but i've heard that their coverage areas leave alot to be desired.

So I'm looking to get some honest opinions about the various services that you folks use in town and out on the trails. I'm really no worried about how your Aunt Mable was treated by custome service when she couldn't figure out how to open her flip phone. How's the coverage, call quality, dropped calls, rate plans, family plans, etc, etc,

Remember folks, we're talking about Colorado only here.

AT&T is flat out terrible. I have the iPhone and while I like the phone, I hate the service. Oh, I hate Steve Jobs too!

I had Verizon prior to AT&T and had great customer service and rarely had a dropped call.

Frank -- I've had verizon for over 10 years. Coverage is in my opinion the best around, with the fewest dropped calls, at least in populated areas. My friends with AT&T generally complain about their coverage, but over the weekend they had 5 bars at 9,000 feet up the Poudre canon in the woods and were checking their emails, while my phone was a paper weight. Of course, Sheila and I are still operating on a special contract she got when she worked for Douglas County schools, and we only pay $55 for two phones and 400 minutes -- if you are a texter (and I know you have teens), I'm not sure how price competitive they are -- but also, all verizon to verizon calls don't count against your minutes.:sunshine:

AT&T was the bomb back in the day before cingular bought them then they went to crap for customer service then when AT&T got them back things haven't improved much for them as far as customer service goes but really haven't had any otehr problems with them. I just have a family plan with 4 lines and never go over and have text messaging no fancy Iphone or touch screen data voice plan thing.

Now one thing I do like with AT&T is mountain coverage. My work lines that are verison and sprint/nextel suck balls in the mt. along I-70 not bad but limited and drop calls alot unless around a town but my AT&T one I can get off the beat'n path and get good coverage still. I was doing alot of driving for work along I-70 Rifle area and back and sprint nextel crapped out first then sprint but still had AT&T

verizon... don't know how long I've had them.....6, 7 years?... no complaints and new phone every 2 years. no customer service complaints to speak of except for walking into a busy store front and having to get on a wait list just to buy an extra charger or something that's hanging on the wall.

mostly happy, even though I don't get coverage at my house in the mountains; but no one has signal there.

t-mobile sucks IMO - I've had nothing but problems with their products and customer service. Before that I had Cingular/AT&T... my only complaint with them was limited coverage in the grand county area (where I live). everyone has been telling me Verizon is the way to go... only provider who gets coverage out here. soon as my contract is up they will have a new customer-

TMobile:
No real complaints other than voicemail lag. I might not get a message for 2 or three days. Not real common, but it happens.

No coverage complaints; one total dead spot ~ 50' radius from front door at work.

have had verizon for 6 years. love it. supposedly they are bringing the iphone to verizon next year.

I've been with Verizon since they bought out AirTouch. I have great coverage most places. I do think the phone you use makes a difference as there are times I have a great signal on my Droid but my wife (right next to me) doesn't on her non-Droid phone.

I really like the family plan with unlimited texting. Along with the free Verizon to Verizon calls!

I went camping at the sand dunes (Alamosa) last summer.
I have T-mobile.

The folks with Verizon were the only ones getting a signal - I had nothing on my phone.

My opinon - Tmobile is great for the front range and for well-populated cities in the U.S. Not so good in the boonies.

Been with AT&T since I got the iPhone when they came out.
Great service where nobody else has it, crappy service where everybody else can talk.

I've bounced around several carriers over the last few years and I have to throw in another vote for Verizon. I have AT&T now and it sucks. T-Mobile would be my second choice, but their phones suck IMO... at least they used to.

I have Verizon and my GF has/had T-Mobile. When we are up at the Cabin Quite a ways up above Idaho Springs, I can use every function on the Droid, and that comes in VERY handy, especially the GPS stuff and Pandora. Rachel recently got a Verizon plan, along with a droid. I've been with Verizon for 6 years or so, and don't plan on changing, unless they give me a reason to.

I have been using Sprint for about 10 years now. I have had great success with them for coverage. Also I think they have some of the cheaper plans available, especially with the extras you get.
