Where would you go to start over?

Do you really want to live in a place that's ruled by giant slugs and has dwarf monk thieves running all over the place?

Admittedly, you could move to DC.

Not really much friends or family here for me. I just need a change and to find myself. Thinking of just goin to NH, But I think colorado would be cool too. I need to go somewhere I can climb.

OK, I might have been wrong about Tatooine,...
Maybe talk to NASA?

I just dont know who I am. And in order to do that, I must get away from the old and go somewhere where i can be me and discover myself in a different way. I think I will take a trip to CO for a month by myself with nothing and see how it goes

Thought that was bukaroo banzi's quote...

You won't "find" yourself by running away. I went to Okinawa to do the same and I came back just as confused as ever. You won't figure anything out until you stop and think about what you want and stop worrying about what others want.

Agreed... though I presently find myself disliking most of the things that keep me in this area. Job has been pissing me off a lot for the last ~2-3 months (bureaucratic bullcrap sucks), neighbors, apartment, state politics/taxes... etc. Only reason I haven't moved yet is finding another job would be pretty tough in this economy.

That'd be my reason for starting over somewhere else - I'd rather solve a lot of issues at once and settle down for good somewhere I like more.

I've been on three islands--Honshu, Okinawa, Great Britain. As a rule I hate islands, however GB was at least tolerable. The thought of getting on another airplane to fly to another island makes my skin crawl. Maybe I just don't like people that drive on the wrong side of the road. Maybe its living on an island that MAKES people drive on the wrong side of the road?

If you like the outdoors, colorado's the place to be. I've lived here all my life and it's basically my paradise. Climbing, jeeping, biking, hiking, camping, skiing, shooting... all within a stone's throw. The mountains are a great place to get away from it all and just listen to the wind and the trees :~) I love it here.

i've done this. with the loss of my job (which sucked monkey balls: worked for a temp service)
losing our "home" (land lord went to jail & it went to the bank for real estate fraud)
so we went camping in PA. traveled down to Fla. then up to S.C. & then N.C. then settled in Tenn. for now. unless neither of us can find work.

but on to the "where would i go to start my life over?" easy.
the jungles/rain forests of SOUTH AMERICA.
i dare anyone to come & TRY to find me there!!! lmao

Try the NH thing, just point the Jeep for north of Concord and keep going. Seems like an easier solution than heading all the way to CO. Might want to wait for the thaw though...

I've lived in a few different states and countries. This place (CO) is by far my favorite. The fact that I came here from TX and CA before that may have something to do with it, but I moved here almost on a whim when I got out of the Navy and have been here for over 11 years now.

No land travel routes, but Puerto Rico would be fantastic too.
