Where to get tires mounted, preferably at a reasonable price?

After ordering Goodyear MT/Rs and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, I gave up, got my $ back and bought BF Goodrich All Terrain T/As. Now I've to get 'em mounted. Anyone know an installer in the West LA, downtown, or Los Feliz areas who won't charge an arm and a leg to mount and balance tires that I bought on line?

Discount/America's tire charges 20$/tire, includes mount, lifetime balancing/rotations. Not bad for not having to rotate yourself, lol.
The independent/mexican ones usually only charge 10$/tire

If you go to a site like tirerack or discount direct, you can check local shops and what they charge.

i use a crowbar and a screwdriver.. throw some airsoft in to balance.

otherwise, find a shady dark alley tire store with no name, the big outfits all charge a lot.

Just curious, how long did you wait for your MT/Rs? I have been considering ordering a set. Lead time looks like a month or so.

I ordered 'em March 25. It finally became clear that I wouldn't have 'em in time for So Cal Fest, so I had to settle for my second choice. If I could have waited longer I would have.

I had the same issue. Had to call every week and even then it was hard. I got lucky and got mine a while back. I know a place near me 9 crenshaw and slauson that does them for 10 a piece. Throw in 8-10oz of Airsoft BB's and be done with it. Hit me up if you need the info.

I thought you guys were yanking my chain about the AirSoft BB's, so I looked it up. I've never heard about that. I may give it a try.

Thanks...

Definitely try the air soft pellets. My tires are pretty beat up and the air soft keeps them perfectly balanced.

ive done the mexican tire shop route, im all for paying an entheusiest instead of some major shop that just doesnt care, because you arent buying tires from them. the mexican shops thrive on these deals.... it takes 30 minutes, and not very much work...

they'll give you two prices, 1 for if you take your old tires, and another if THEY take care of the old tires.

When I bought our daughter tires for her Honda Fit through Tire Rack I checked their "preferred" mounting places and chose the Mercedes dealer in Buena Park.
After they got done laughing at the size of her tires, it was only $10- each.
AND, they hand washed and vacuumed the car which was probably dirtier than your Jeep.

If you don't need them installed, $10- ea. shouldn't be hard to find.

Following up on the AirSoft BB advice, how critical is the quantity? If I throw, say, 9 ounces (and I assume that's by weight) of BB's in each tire, will that be the end of it? I can't see any tire shop mounting my tires, letting me take the rig for a spin, and then remounting again after I add more BBs, or take some out. At least not without charging me every time. So its not really practical if I can't get it right the first time.

Any thoughts on exactly what the right quantity would be for an 32x1150x15 tire?

I used about 8 ounces as per this chart:
http://www.innovativebalancing.com/BigTirechart.htm

Looks like 8 for the 32 11.5 also.

I think I erred on the heavy side. A few extra shouldn't hurt... they'll just balance themselves out. I was pretty unscientific about it.. I didn't use a scale, just eyeballed it... I wouldn't worry about being too precise on the exact weight.
