Not sure how we pissed Cracker off but sorry for whatever it was..
It really comes down to business. Like travisk said employee numbers do play into the decision to stop taking jobs that were mainly labor based. When a customer brings in a housing from a junkyard and used parts he got from eBay it almost always takes more labor to give them a product that they will be happy with then if we built a new rear. This really backs up production. We will still retube on a cases by case basis but you must buy axles, gears, bearings ect. to go with it. Sometimes a housing is a simple retube but most of the time its a big pain. Another problem with a retube is if a housing has a crack that isn't seen and the housing breaks in the press Currie ends up replacing it at our cost because most customers will not believe its wasn't our fault. I have been with Currie for almost 9 years and I have had to make that call and it never goes well. The idea behind this really is customer service oriented. When a guy drops 4000.00+ on a front or rear we don't like them to wait longer then three weeks to get it.
The other thing that has taken effect as of the first of the year is Currie jeep parts are "wholesale only" now. If you need a antirock or a steering kit you must buy it from guys like RWK, Northridge4x4, ORW, 4WP or Quadratec. There is a dealer finder on our site that will help you locate someone in you area. This decision was also a business issue. 95% of our parts sales were already wholesale sales and by not being "wholesale only" major retailers like Summit and Jegs wont advertise us in their mailers and catalogs because we are competing with them directly for retail customers. Right now if you cant find the part you need at a local dealer you can still come to the shop a buy whatever you need. If you need parts like Johnny joint bushings or Antirock heims we will always sell them to you.
If you are out at the hammers come by the tent and hang out. We are going to be doing some cool things this year
