Where to find used tires.

Does any body know of a good place in or near San Diego to find some decent used tires. I'm looking for either 33's or 35's, but the largest I seem to be able to find are no where near that, or are completely bald.

Check your phone book - if there are any used tyre places about, you should be able to find them in there (I know we've got a couple up here!)

Problem you're likely to run into is that most tyres in your size are going to be pretty well shot by the time they're about to get them, and I don't thing the larger sizes last too long when they come in - at least, that's what our local used tyre guys up here have to say.

There is an outfit about that does recaps for pax and light truck tyres - I don't recall the name, but a search here should turn them up - go for either "recap" or "retread" - it was one of the two...

That's dem! I know they were out there, I just couldn't remember where (and didn't feel like looking them up since I didn't need them myself, honestly...)

I'm sure there are some reports from the field on them - and if recaps are so bad, why would they be used on freight trucks? (Apart from cost, that is.)

El Amigo tires, on Imperial Ave., I've heard of a place called Joels Tire and have bought a decent set from Corona Used Tires, in Vista (if its still there) on on E. Vista, corner of SOuth Santa Fe. Theres another place on South Santa Fe as well, don't remember the name. All of these places are pretty ghetto and you have more luck if you speak Spanish. I had an S-10 it ate tires for breakfast so I got used ones. Tijuana must have a million used tire shops, I have taken tires down there (even though youre not supposed to drive across w/ tires) to have them mounted & balanced cheaply.
