Still working on the idea with Eagle, RJ will probably come up with something fast for a summer thing. Found this site:

Eagle talked to someone that goes up there often and he said we'd be better off trying a little south of here, which would be north and east of the Rangley area. Supposed to be open with no fees.
Between the first week of June and September my time will be limited as I have to take a course through the company I work for and then I'm off to AR for two weeks. I'm planning to take a vacation sometime in October and want to head up that way then.

Well I live in Ellsworth!!! 30 miles from Bangor and have moose hunted many many of those dirt roads! I can take you too some off of route 9 that are free and only close gates in mud season. MY XJ will be ready I hope soon. It is all built just needs To work out the glitches. Like figure a way to get a steering stabalizer on there,waiting for my droped pit arm to show!! Over a month now!!! WHen she is in 4 wheel peal ther is a constant thump. If I get all those fixed I will join ya. schoodic mountain would Be fun for the ones with at least one locker. 4X4XFAR

With Mohawk Madness on Memorial Day weekend (North Adams, MA, area) and NACFest the weekend of June 11-13 (Paragon in PA), I'm booked up for now, but we know most folks from the frozen north probably can't make it to Paragon so it would be great to have other rides for the northern part of the chapter area.
