A few weeks back I wheeled Boulder carnage with a buddy from work. I finally got some pictures of the run. It's too bad they are going to shut this trail down because people were cutting bypasses off the trail.
Someone had told me the decision to close this trail had already been made, but they had not actually gone out and physically closed it. The reason was too many people were driving off the trail to bypass obstacles. However, I just did a search on Google and could not find anything about it being closed, so I think this info is incorrect. The steering is doing pretty well. I need to cut down the tie rod a bit and I need a new drag link as the new high steer required about an inch and a half spacer to level out the heim joints.
Ken, as far as I know Carnage IS slated to be closed. The Boulder Ranger District can close it at anytime. When this happens has never been set in stone. I imagine it will remain open until the new areas in Left Hand are open for access. Then Carnage will most likely be shut down
Looks like fun! My buddy just moved back down to Boulder from FoCo. He lives maybe 10 minutes from the head of the trail, lucky bastid (for being close to wheeling, not living in Boulder ). Oh, and from what I've heard...Carnage will NOT be closed down until the "Pay to Play" place gets put up. But since that doesn't seem to be going much of anywhere (haven't heard anything about it getting going), Carnage will be open for some time to come. I honestly think they are afraid to close it since all that will do is make the idoits find another place to try and destroy. Why close one and create another ya know?
I hope they don't close it anytime soon. That trail is close and fun as hell. The first time I went was the day after the chinaman run in April. I was hoping to meet up with you (freerider15) cause you posted you may be there that day, but I did not see you and ended up wheeling with a couple of buggies, a bronco and a bunch of SWB jeeps.
