What's your thoughts on tires

BFG ATs or General Gtabber AT2s would suit you well.

Stick to a 31. A Jeep with 3" and 31s looks lifted riding down the raid and you got decent ground clearance but keep a good ride and performance from your Jeep.

Tire size doesn't affect flex does it? Suspension affects flex. You still get the same amount of droop no matter what size tire you run. I hear this from a ton of people. They have a mild lift but don't want a bigger tire size because it will affect their articulation. This simply isn't true.

Droop ... on one side. The other side HAS to go up.

If you are not going to trim anything at all then go with 31's but if you are will to trim a little then you can clear 32's. I am currently running 32's with 3" and couldnt be happier. I have trimmed front and rear. but no a gross amount. If you want a great MT tire i would recommend the Maxxis Bighorn or Buckshot. Great tires

I have had Pro Comp muds which were awful beacuse they wore down so fast but other than that they were an ok tire. I had a set of BFG all-terrains and they weren't bad tread life was good performance was ok but I found they would loose traction in the rain pretty easily and they just didn't have the grip I was looking for but they rode awsome and they were not loud at all. I had a set of BFG mud-terrain KM1s and they were a great set of tires. They rode real nice and weren't too loud for a mud tire and they lasted me a good 25,000 to 30,000 (lost track after a while). Now those were all 31s. I recently put on a set of bushwhackers and now I am running 33" BFG KM2s and I absolutely love them! They ride nice and they are not too loud. I would definitely buy another set of these tires after they wear out.

I don't have my back fenders cut, my front fenders are cut up about 3'' and I refit the stock flares back on it. With the 4 door I found it hard to trim the rear properly, so I have yet to do it....I'm also up about 4.5" and do not want to go up higher. Will 33X10.50's fit well enough w/out rubbing terribly? My goal is to flex well with minimum lift!

For a DD the KM2's may be too aggresive. Just a thought.

I would have to disagree with ya Mark. I have them on the Ranger (which is DD and sees a LOT of pavement use) and I fully expect to get 50K out of them. I have roughly 25K on them now, and they are doing fantastic.

im not in ur chpt but for reference, i have 4" lift on 33x10.50's and i still have nice tire to fender gap. 3" and 31's not trimmed would look good too.

I'm sitting about the same with 33x12.5, and I rub but just barely. The 10.5 width would help a lot as most of my rubbing is flexing while at almost full lock. I also haven't done anything for bumpstops yet, that would be the biggest key to not rub.

Edit: Also want to add that Maxxis Bighorns have been great DD tires for me. Good road manners, grip like a sonuvagun on snow/ice, and air em down offroad and they handle Carolina Clay like champs.

what do you mean properly? if you look at the picture i posted, i trimmed and cut those fender's without any issues. only problem you will run into is if you cut up too high you will have little holes inside the cab. not really an issue either though you just have to be careful

By properly (to me) is to leave the stock flares on. You can cut the rear and make it look nice, but you lose the flares, and as of now, I want to keep the flares and maintain a stock look...

Here's a pic of what it looks like now, with the fronts cut and the rears standard.

oh ok, i gotcha, the way i've seen it done was to cut your fenders like normal, then drill them into your door and higher up on the quarter panel then cutting a notch into the flare so the doors still open.

im not saying to do it, but thats what i've seen, i also see alot of people trimmed in the rear w/o the flares and flares up front.

i found out today after installing my new 15x8 3.75 bs'd wheels that having the tires stick out past the fender = mud on the windshield. i MIGHT try and reinstall my stock flares.

im thinking about it and my wipers work good... its just a pain i may just bolt on some clear lexan mudflaps for muddy days. it wont cost much and i really only need 2 for the front, and if they get ripped off im not out much.

as i have always thought... xj's make small tires look huge, i wouldnt go over 32" and prolly stick with 31's in the AT or mild MT flavor

6 inches with 33's makes them look small...:D

ya mud with wide tires and no flares sucks! I am going to be putting mine back on soon I think.

exact thing happened to me, that's why they are back on. I would remove the rear and keep the front...but that would look janky as hell. I will try to devise something and get back at y'all.
