Today I bought a 95 XJ with 116k miles, auto and 4x4 for $700 bucks. It needs a master cylinder, wheel cylinder, a radio and the blower switch fixed. That and a little rust clean up it should be gtg.

So it got me thinking, what's the best deal you've gotten on a XJ?

well im buying my buddies 94 ZJ for $200. perfect body, engine turns over, very clean inside for its age, 231 T case, new tires, 170K on the clock.

He cant get it to start and im saving it before he junks it. dont tell him its just a short with the oxygen sensor!

I got a 90 4.0 auto 242 loaded for free all it needed was a valve cover gasket and a TPS

bought mine for 900 guy died due to kidney failure and the jeep only has 110,000 miles 95 not a single issue except the black paint on the hood peeled. o and there was dog hair on the rear seat. better yet buddy just replaced his 4.5 lift with a long arm 6 and gave it to me for free.

Originally bought my 89 for $400. It was in good condition at the time but non running. I replaced the engine computer and used it as my work vehicle for 3 or 4 years until the engine had nothing left. Then I started to rebuild.

every xj i have ever purchased was a pretty good deal. never spent over $900 for one.

heres what stands out though

88 comanche 4.0 150k needed a battery = free
96 cherokee classic in MINT condition sans tranny pump = $700
91 laredo, sat for a couple years, just needed a good cleaning= $250

best deal wasnt an xj though. just picked up a 97 tj for $200 last week.

$900 for my GFs 96, cream puff 100K no rust needed a new brake hard line so it couldn't leave the driveway under its own power. I showed up with a trailer and she came with cash and we took it home fixed it and she drove it from CT to Fla 0 issues.

I paid $7300 for my 2000 classic 6 years ago. It was worth over $11K at the time.

the best deal was this 01 limited for $1400. needed a trans but other than that it was PRISTINE.

I paid $500 for my 93 Country and all it needed was a set of plug wires. Has almost 300K on it now and I wheel the bag off of it.

Just recently picked up a loaded 98 w/ 6.5 lift and 33" Claws. Needed a radiator. $1300.

About 10 years ago I picked up an XJ in Fort Collins for $50. It didn't run and the owner had spent tons of $$$ trying to fix it. He got fed up and simply wanted it gone. I paid the $$ and got the title in hand. It took 30 minutes and a CPS and I drove it home. He was pissed and called me a theif. Go figure. I sold it the next day. So when is a CPS worth $1000????

i bought an 89 4.0 190,000 miles ran perfect just had a blown head gasket and a 90 4.0 298,000 miles still turned over but didnt run "good".. $400 a piece. I couldnt resist 2 jeeps for 800.. 1 i could use and the other i could use for parts. the 90 Ended up being a donor for my stroker to put in my 89!

I just got a 84 for a case of beer and a 89 for $100. Both ran good too. I have only once paid more than $500 for any XJ or MJ. I have had 4 MJs and 15+ XJs.

I got started in 2002 when I bought my 2000 from a dealer for $12K with 10,000 miles on it.
