Well, it FINALLY happened. And I imagine it won't be the last....

So I'm out walking around the neighborhood i'm reading. I hear dogs bark ALL the time. Well, this time. I heard 2 barks and feet patter. As soon as I turn around, this little fawker was JUST within arms reach, mouth open. So my natural reaction is what? Swing the big ole screwdriver I carry with me(to pop open lids). I cracked the damn dog in the head, he goes to wimper and runs back into the yard he was in. THEN, I hear "don't hit my dog" from some ole' rich bitch. I didn't say one word to her. I immediatly called my office, and told my supervisor what happened. He was concerned with MY well being first, then he told me to give the bitch our office number. I did and walked off.

GA has a STATE leash(sp?) or fence law. Meaning ALL dogs must be on a leash or behind a fence. From what I could tell, the mutt ran out from the garage area in a beeline to me.

When I got to the office at lunch, I had to right a full report and talked to the head of the department.

I can almost guarentee she will try to sue the dept. or something.....
....
so let's hear it. Am I in the right? Would you have done the same thing?

I'd have done the same, maybe shriek like a little girl though.

lol. I might have. My adrenaline was running wild afterwords. I wanting to punch ole wench in the mouf. But then again, I didn;t want to have to deal with her chit.

You were defending yourself... why is there even any doubt about it?

Several of our neighbors dogs have actually run into our garage when it was open, and once, right into the house from the garage. Talk about leash laws! Lets just say my dad wasn't happy. We also get ground squirrels in our garage sometimes too... I really actually hate dogs... : /

Hindsight, he IS lucky I was holding the screwdriver by the metal end, and not the handle. Otherwise I woulda stabbed it. Most of the dogs I have encountered so far, have cowered off when I "buck" at them. But this one tried to get me with my back turned...... that ain't cool.

IT wasn't a BIG dog. Medium sized mutt. If it was a pit breed, she'd be paying my medical bills right now.

I would have backed up like it was 4th and 31 to go from your 5 yard line, and punted like my life depended on it.

hell yes... my dad is a UPS man and deals with this shit all the time... as long as you were not behind her fence and she had a beward of dog sign, you could have killed the little focker before her very eyes for trying to attack you.

Someone call PITA! This can't be allowed! :kissyou:

Seriously...I have kicked the sh@# out of a dog that came after me. If she can't control it then it is her problem. I know I am insane or suggesting 'personal responsibility' but that's me, complete radical!

A neighbor years ago got sick of the neighborhood wanderer, a rotty cross that would wander into your yard and then bark and growl defensively if he came across anyone. The neighbor grabbed the dog by its collar and locked it to the parking sign on the street with a length of chain and a padlock. We were killing ourselves laughing watching the whole ordeal. I never knew where the owner lived, somewhere behind us, but the dog was chained to that pole whimpering for a few hours before animal control picked it up. We never saw it again. When I asked the neighbor why he did it, he said he wanted to chain the owner to the pole but the dog was the next best thing...

:D
